The two main divisions of these sports arc the fall sports, including basketball, soccer, and field ball; and the spring sports, consisting of volleyball, softball, tennis, track, badminton, shuftleboard, horseshoes, tabic tennis, and bowling. The physical education classes hold intramural tournaments after school in the three most popular sports, basketball, volleyball, and softball. With the exception of the Girls Letter Club, only girls in the physical education classes may participate in the tournaments. To make the team, a girl must practice at least six times in class, Ik able to play reasonably well and understand the rules of the game. Tlie basketball tournament this year was won by the freshman team, and the Girls Letter Club won the volleyball tournament. No report s available on the softball tour- nament as it has not yet been played. All girls who have earned their gym letter arc eligible for membership in the Girls Letter Club. Points toward the letter are awarded for participating in various activities; a girl must get eight hundred of these points to receive her letter. In the Girls Letter Club the girls learn to officiate in the tournaments, and to assist Miss Ewing in various ways in her gym classes. The highest honor a girl can obtain in the athletic field is membership in the Olympian Honor Society. Members of this society are appointed by Miss Ewing. They serve by officiating in the tournaments, assisting Miss Ewing with the attendance and physical cf-ficiency records, taking charge of the equipment. and coaching the sports. After a semester of outstanding service the members are awarded large letters. —Betty Britton Correction: There are lux errors in memorabilia.
