Born in Benningion, New York, he aiiended A++ica High School and Wheaion College and ihen began his Teaching career in a one-room school near his home. In I944, he joined +he Naval Reserve spending +wo years in service and reiurning io Oiean in I946. During 'rhis period he comple+ed considerable in-service iraining, 'raking work ai +he Universiiies oi Rochesier, Buffalo, and Columbia and in I938, com pleiing his Mas'rer's a+ New York Universiiy. Among his many con+ac+s wi'rh educafionai leaders are +hose ihrough +he organiza+ions +o which he belongs. Some are The Phi Delia Kappa.
