MIRACLE IN BATON ROUGE Qi AP Ariel Anne, Laura Alice, Jacob Wilson, and William Macon Roland DON’T OPEN IT YET!!! For Susan and Jim Roland, the reality of being able to have another child was a miracle. That miracle was enhanced by the fact that not one but four — that’s right, quadruplets — were born. The quads were born January 15, 1987 and are, by order of birth, Ariel Anne, weighing in at 4 lbs. 8 oz., Laura Alice, weighing 4 lbs. 9 oz., Jacob Wilson, weighing 4 lbs. 8 oz., and William Macon, weighing 4 lbs. 5 oz. The quads were welcomed home by their older brother Jason, a sophomore here at Wood-lawn. These quads are the world's sixth in-vitro births and are the second in the United States. Even though he quads were born at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, the in-vitro fertilization marked the first successful in-vitro pregnancy that Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge could boast. All babies are home and doing well. Congratulations to the Roland family! This year the Art Department constructed a time caspule to be opened 100 years from now. Businesses and students donated items to be placed in the capsule that may give future Wood-lawn students an insight into the customs and curiosities of our times. Some of those items include: a copy of the Woodlawn Alma Mater, a picture of the Band, a teacher handbook, several magazines, a baseball t-shirt, a picture of our Purple Panther mascot, a can of Copenhagen, and LNB belt buckle, Prom and Graduation invitations, videos of Woodlawn groups performing, and McDonald's food containers. 12
