Muammar Gaddafi, organized many terrorist attacks against the United States. In retaliation, the United States launched an attack on Libya. The attempt has been called successful since terrorism from Libya has declined. Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega and his Sandinista regiments have been trying to defeat the American backed Contra rebels. The Contras are “freedom fighters fighting against the Communist government. Congress, however, has forbidden any further funding of the Contras. Chernobyl radio-activated the world with its major explosion at a nuclear plant in Russia. This disaster again reminded the world of the inevitable danger of nuclear holocaust as we had not been reminded since the incident at Three Mile Island. THROUGHOUT THE NATION .... In November, 1986. senate races were held around the United States. The outcome of the races gave the Democrats control of the Senate, which had been controlled by the Republican party for six years. OF 1986-1987 Michelle Grumbles. Dr. Kyle Kennedy. DOS Sheila Cone. Family Debt Counselors Sarah Wharton. Audubon Amco. Ins. Co. A scandal, sometimes compared to Nixon's Watergate scandal, broke out in the United States in 1986, involving the sale of arms to Iran in return for hostages from Lebanon. To make matters worse, the money made from the sales was later discovered to have been sent to aid the Contras. Many top United States officials were questioned before Congress. Daytime soap operas were interrupted to televise the Congressional hearings. Soap operas have not been interrupted for such a purpose since the Watergate scandal. ACROSS THE STATE ... In November. Louisiana’s voters had to choose their United States senator. From the run-off election featuring John Breaux and Henson Moore, the voters chose Breaux. The election of John Breaux, a Democrat, helped the Democrats to gain control of the United States Senate. Louisiana's Governor Edwin Edwards proposed the idea of a lottery to save Louisiana’s plunging economy. The Legislature, however, refused to pass the bill. They plan instead to cut dollars from the budgets governing health and education and to charge tolls for people traveling across state bridges. REMEMBER THESE ? HOT SPOTS In pursuit of good times on the weekends and in trying to make it through the week, the students of Woodlawn have made many places their hot spots”. The freshmen, unable to cruise in a car, get mom to drop them off at McDonalds and then carry house keys around to make the upperclassmen think they have their licenses. The sophomores usually all pile into one car and cruise around all night, just excited that they get to drive. When students become upperclassmen, they start to loosen up a little and learn about wildlife”. Sometimes the outdoors get a little out of hand and students find themselves at Klempeter Sub Station. Even though every weekend isn’t filled with excitement, students always seem to find SOMETHING to do! HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES Many students participated in the activities planned for Homecoming Week. Monday was Rambo Oay, and everybody wore their camouflage attire. Tuesday students found their twin and dressed alike during Twin Day. Wednesday was Fifties Day. and everyone rolled up their jeans and wore bobby socks and poodle skirts. Thursday, students went Mad For Plaid, with the exception of Key Clubbers and J.V. and Varsity Cheerleaders, Pantherettes, and Boosters. For these organizations, new members participated in Iniation Day. Key Clubbers wore their clothes backwards and had shower caps on their heads. They carried fly swatters to keep the girls away. J. V. Cheerleaders dressed UGLY and carried lunch pails. The Varsity Squad wore highlighter caps, no make up and Taco Bell pants. Pantherettes dressed as toy dolls and ate baby food during lunch. Boosters made themselves up half way and wore bath robes. Thursday night, a Homecoming Pep Rally and Parade were held. The turn out was tremendous, and the spirit shook the stadium, as every auxiliary group performed. Friday, students wore purple and white on Purple and White Day. Everyone packed picnic lunches or participated in the special cafeteria take out program to join a huge picnic on the grounds by the gym. . 6 Cheerleaders Tylee Jackson, Christy Kaiser, and Pam Crawford stop to show off their Initiation attire. The Varsity Cheerleaders are ready for their big day — Initiation Day. that is. Pantherettes Heather Turney, Elena Perez, and Stacey Hoffman, who are dressed as dolls, enjoy eating baby food during lunch. Mike Yawn is enjoying his day as a new member in the Key Club. The Varsity Cheerleaders are getting ready to participate in the Homecoming Parade and the pep rally Thursday night. 7 STUDENTS ENTER THE ADVENTURE OF TEACHING This year the Spanish three class is taking over the Big Buddy Program, by going to Cedarcrest Elementary. The students teach the second graders a foreign language every Thursday during fourth hour. The Spanish three students are divided into groups to teach the second graders basic Spanish, such as greetings, colors, numbers, and animals. At the end of each teaching period, everyone feels a sense of accomplishment and looks forward to going to teach again. Sandra Day. Mi Lee. and Janna McGill are instructing the students at Cedarcrest Elementary, A tutoring program sponsored by the Lutheran Church of Our Savior helps students in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and Advanced Math. Members of the church who have good backgrounds in math help students at the Woodlawn Off Campus Learning Center on Tuesday and Thursday nights. National Honor Society members also volunteer time at the center. Ruth Hatele. NHS President, helps Dana Kimbrough with a geometry problem PEP RALLIES To stimulate spirit, the Varsity Cheerleaders organize pep rallies each Friday before football games. The Pantherettes dance, the Flag Corps twirl flags, the band plays, and the J.V. and Varsity Cheerleaders cheer. For entertainment, the cheerleaders plan different skits that involve the students attending the pep rallies. Scott Seal ate more bananas than he could stand. David Hubbard and Kenny Brown stood in ice filled chests to see who was the “coolest'’ football player. And we all remember the immortal kiss that Mrs. Hutchinson gave Ali Momenzadeh! Spirits peaked with the singing of “I’m So Glad”. The pep rallies ended on a more solemn note with the traditional singing of the “Alma Mater”. 9 FRONT ROW LUNATICS The Front Row Lunatics enjoyed getting cr at all the basketball games! They showed spirit by dressing up in their overcoats, gfc camouflage, and Hawaiian attire. Ms. ic | complained about the Lunatics' behavior t basketball games and told them if they shape up they wouldn’t be allowed to atu games. The Lunatics, as slick as they are, t - up as angels and brought signs to cheer. Tt on the front row and did not yell until ha when they stripped off their angel attii cheered in their Exorcists t-shirts. The L definitely made all the basketball games nr ble. ___________________ above Scott gets cozy for the 30 hour bus ride, right' not on the slopes, the BR Wrecking Crew entertains. This year's activities started off with the club meeting at individual's houses. At All Momenza-deh’s house, more than 90 people came. John Clifford shaved his WHS beard. Before Homecoming, the Campaigners took a weekend trip to Pass Christian, Mississippi, where they played Top Gun Volleyball, jammed on the beach, and caught some rays. Next about 60 Younglifers headed to Mississippi where they attended a weekend camp called Polar Bear. They played games, had vicious shaving cream fights, and before leaving, some took the Polar Bear plunge! Over the Christmas holidays some of the Younglifers rode on a 30 hour bus ride to Breckinridge, Colorado for a week in the snow. Even though there were injuries, people kissing trees, and many falls, all say they would do it again! MIRACLE IN BATON ROUGE Qi AP Ariel Anne, Laura Alice, Jacob Wilson, and William Macon Roland DON’T OPEN IT YET!!! For Susan and Jim Roland, the reality of being able to have another child was a miracle. That miracle was enhanced by the fact that not one but four — that’s right, quadruplets — were born. The quads were born January 15, 1987 and are, by order of birth, Ariel Anne, weighing in at 4 lbs. 8 oz., Laura Alice, weighing 4 lbs. 9 oz., Jacob Wilson, weighing 4 lbs. 8 oz., and William Macon, weighing 4 lbs. 5 oz. The quads were welcomed home by their older brother Jason, a sophomore here at Wood-lawn. These quads are the world's sixth in-vitro births and are the second in the United States. Even though he quads were born at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, the in-vitro fertilization marked the first successful in-vitro pregnancy that Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge could boast. All babies are home and doing well. Congratulations to the Roland family! This year the Art Department constructed a time caspule to be opened 100 years from now. Businesses and students donated items to be placed in the capsule that may give future Wood-lawn students an insight into the customs and curiosities of our times. Some of those items include: a copy of the Woodlawn Alma Mater, a picture of the Band, a teacher handbook, several magazines, a baseball t-shirt, a picture of our Purple Panther mascot, a can of Copenhagen, and LNB belt buckle, Prom and Graduation invitations, videos of Woodlawn groups performing, and McDonald's food containers. 12 below-Where's the bal? nght-the students and teachers tight to the end. Guest speaker was Mr. John Roberts who encouraged all students to set high personal standards and to reach out a helping hand to fellow human beings. 29 ADOPTIONS Woodlawn High School has been adopted two times during this 86-87 school year and one time in the past. We were first adopted by Louisiana National Bank. That was four years ago. Since then, they have purchased honor pins, honor jackets for students who make all A’s, and chevrons for two year straight A students. This year’s adopters are Lutheran Church of Our Saviour and the International Technical Institute. The Lutheran Church is offering us tutoring in math courses on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the church. We were adopted on December 2, 1986 by the Lutheran Church. Since then, students have been regularly attending the tutoring classes and pulling up their grades. The third to adopt us was the International Technical Institute. They adopted us on February 12,1987. The Institute plans to hold a financial seminar for college education for the seniors and their parents. They also plan to provide scholarships for deserving seniors. Woodlawn, in turn, was an adopter. We adopted Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Communication has been established between this school and the nursing home so that both the young people and the older ones can share experiences. 30 STUDENTS ENTER THE ADVENTURE OF CARING WOODLAWN HELPS IN FEEDING THE NEEDY The week before Thanksgiving vacation, a food drive was held to help feed the hundreds of needy families in Baton Rouge. Even though we have had a hard year because of the decline in our economy, many Woodlawn students came to the aid by bringing enough food to fill two trucks. The classroom bringing in the most food received a special of donuts and orange juice provided by the Keywanettes. Eric White, a member of ROTC, helped in a special way by donating the turkey he won in the Turkey Shoot to a needy family. Students help till truckloads ol food collected for the needy. SWEETHEART COURT The Court this year was elected by popular vote by the student body. The court consisted of 10 couples that were presented and recognized at the Sweetheart Dance. This dance is sponsored by SGA and is usually Sadie Hawkins, that is, girls ask guys. The traditional slow dance was dedicated to the Sweetheart Court. Veromca Schilling. Mike Gall Faye Michel. The actors, as well as the backstage crew, were nervous as they heard the crowd's chatter growing louder. The people working on props added the final touches to the set and hurried backstage just in time for the curtain to go up. The nervousness only made the actors more energetic, which made Time Out for Ginger a great success. Ms. Hill produced another outstanding play. The cast consisted of Maureen McMahon, Rachel Wilcox, John Emeigh, Susan Mullins, Veronica Schilling, Jennifer Foster, Scott Moulard. Shawn Mulkey, Todd Waguespack, and Buddy Tidwell. The production crew consisted of Assistants to the Director- Michelle Grumbles and Kim Jeffries; Stage Manager- Holly Caplan; Props- Amy Odom, Christi Blum, Mary Blanton, Jerisse Lilly, Kim Hardison; Costumes- Heather Turney, Nikki Browning, Dawn Konow, Donna Dimattia; and Sound by Christy Kaiser. Receiving the class rings was another exciting event the juniors also looked forward to. Overall, the year has been the most unique, as juniors pulled together to show roles of leadership in clubs, athletics, and the organization of many events. 70 Life’s most embarrassing moments were shared by these juniors. Stacey Schneider slipped on strawberry jello in the cafeteria. Someone also stole her shoe at lunch one day. She found it hanging from the door facing in A Hall for all the world to see. Lisa Moore threw up in Rachel Beerbaum’s car. YUK! Kristy King just couldn’t stay away from Kevin Hanks, who was visiting with Brian Granger (along with three other girls!) Despite their repeated requests for Kristy to leave and to stay away, she returned FIVE times. Finally Brian had to tell her to leave and to never come back. Don Prier freaked out over a fire alarm, running out of the building and yelling Fire! Fire!” It was only a drill. It was a hit and run when Deeanna Bowen killed a stop sign by KMart with her car. She did manage to miss the other car though. Thank you, juniors, for sharing those moments with us. O'Neal. Scott Otts. Randy Paige. Cosette Pate. Stacey Peck. Diana Perot. Mark Perry. Donald Have you ever realized just how awkward your first date was? Well, since most of us sophomores are just now really starting to date, we decided to ask just HOW it went. Draw your own conclusions about this one! MARK GUZZARDO told us this story. Well, we had gone to see a movie and she drove. I wasn't old enough yet. Anyway, I won’t mention what I ate for supper that night, but it sure did upset my stomach. Well, while we were going to the movie, my stomach was twisting and turning and I knew what was going on. All of a sudden, it happened. I couldn't hold it in, and it was; doozy! I turned red as a beet and all she would do was laugh.” CATHY HEBERT told us that right in the middle of what was a grea good night kiss, her mom walked in. CRAIG SIMMONS said, “On my -date, we went to a real nice restaurant to eat. After we were finished realized I had forgotten my wallet. Luckily, she had money and didn t mind paying for the meal.” DARLENE PHILLIPS shared this one with us When I was getting out of the car, my shirt got stuck in the door. Well, needless to say, when I shut the door, I was hooked to it and couldn’t move away. 78 For some people, the first kiss is something they will never forget. But for others, it is something they may never want to remember. We asked sophomores to share with us the secrets of their first kiss. We learned from Cathy Hebert this: It wasn’t the best thing but I guess it has a lot to do with who you kiss. Mark Guzzardo told us, It was in a storage shed at a party in the seventh grade. The girl had braces and almost gnawed my lips off!” Maia Thibodeaux said, He was a REAL Woodlawner. He had just taken off his alligator skin boots, and it was then that I realized what was happening. He removed his cowboy hat and bent down to kiss me, and you’ll never guess what happened! Just as our lips met, a lipful of Skoal fell into my mouth. It was great!!’’ Darlene Phillips said, “It was a gross sensation at first, but it got better.” Chad Kelly said, The first kiss I recollect came a few years back in Alabama. I felt pretty stupid when I drew her near to my lips. But as we made contact, I was a lot more comfortable. That night I sat up and worried if I had done everything right. Apparently I did because no one made fun of me at school the next day. Now that I’ve gotten older, I feel relaxed when I’m with a girl. Hurts. Tuquencia Hu en. Kent Jasmski. Lara Johnson. Jim hails from Palura de Mallorca, Spain. He responded to an article in the newspaper about becoming a foreign exchange student to America, applied, and was accepted. And here he is, spending his senior year with us. We talked with Jim to find out about life in Mallorca and his views of living in America. Jim came here two years ago to vacation at Disney World in Florida with his parents and two younger brothers. Jim has been able to travel to Texas and Oklahoma while here this time. He would like to see California either before he leaves for home or perhaps on a return trip to America. Back home in Mallorca, Jim enjoys playing tennis, golf and going out with his friends. When he returns home, he plans to get his required Army term out of the way. All young men, at age 18, are required to serve eighteen months in the Army, unless they can prove a handicap. Jim would like to go to college after his Army term is up and will major in psychology. He says life styles are different here. For instance, here we eat in a hurry, just to keep ourselves going. But in Spain, meals are a family time, lasting about an hour each, with several full courses served. The entire family sits down together and talks during the meal. Jim says children have more freedom in Spain than they do here. Parents seem to worry too much about their children. Perhaps parents have more to worry about! Fourteen year olds in Spain may purchase liquor. Many young people do drink, but drink moderately. Jim says that young people rarely ever get drunk. Also few teenagers use drugs. Drugs are illegal m Spam, and drug abuse occurs predominantly among adults, if at all. People must be eighteen to get a driver’s license in Spain, so no teenagers have cars since they can’t drive anyway. Jim says that school is really more difficult in Spain. The hours are from 8:45 a.m. until 6:00 p. m. with a two hour lunch break. (Remember those family meals!) Although students are only required to attend school until age fourteen, everyone is encouraged to stay in school and graduate. By the time they are sophomores, students must decide what field they will major in in high school. They may choose from literature and philosophy, economics or science, math and physics. High schools are structured like college, and students take a concentration of subjects in their chosen field. Students may opt to attend a trade school rather than a regular college prep high school program. Schools teaching the trades of electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc. are available. Since school lasts so long, no students are able to hold down afternoon jobs. Even if a student quit school, there would be few oportunities for working, since industry tends to hire only adults. Jim says that he thinks Americans are friendly. But he admits that he misses his home country and family and friends. He will be happy to return to Spain at the end of his ten months here. Jim says this adventure has been a good experience for him. and he will encourage his younger brothers to become foreign exchange students, too. 84 Acosta. Kalyca Acosta. Rachel Arcediana. Amanda What one thing would you change about Woodlawn if you could change anything? When the ninth grade was polled on this question, a majority of the answers replied were “I would change the way it looks or it needs a lot of body work.” Misty Boone feels that there can never be too many tardies. She is agreed with by many others. If people weren’t begging for more tardies or complaining about the way the school looks, i they were desperately wanting a longer lunch period. There was one very unique answer given by Jody Plauch'e, who said, “I would change it being a school.” 88 Your first day of high school as a freshmen is truly an adventure. There are so many new things that you have to get used to and a few you have to be scared of. For example, the freshmen boys have the big worry of whether they will be trashed or not, and they have to decide whether they are going to be in athletics. They also have to watch their actions so they’re not called immature by the upperclassmen. The girls have their share of scares too. Fitting in may sometimes be harder for girls than boys. Girls have to worry about the way their hair looks, if they have too much make-up on, or if the clothes they are wearing are in style. But the one thing that will always be there for both girls and boys throughout high school is the many heartbreaks they will endure. tones. Maureen tordan. King Joseph. Kimberly Kaiser. This year the auditorium received a facelift to repair several bald spots where bricks had parted company from the walls. Apparently a geological fault, known as the Denham Springs fault, runs under the school. The fault begins in Denham Springs and continues to the LSU area. The school is very much affected by this fault. The shifting of the fault causes the ceilings and walls to crack and during rainstorms the rooms leak. In the 1950’s Wood-lawn had a swimming pool where the band parking lot is presently located. The sifting fault caused damage to the pool, and eventually it had to be closed and filled with dirt. A fault is a fracture in rocks of the Earth’s crust where compressional or tensional forces cause the rocks on opposite sides of the fracture to be displaced relative to each other and causes them to shear. Distribution of faults is uneven; some large areas have almost none, others are cut by innumerable faults of varying size. The movements along a fault may extend thousands of feet vertically and tens of miles horizontally. The Denham Springs fault moves approximately one centimeter per year. Once every six months an engineering firm comes out and examines the fault. They use a brass dike located by the choir room to determine the exact movements of the fault. The fault continues to wreak havoc with the foundations of the buildings here on campus and elsewhere. How much longer do we have before the entire area falls off the face of the world just like California! Construction workers repair damages to the auditorium from the shifting fault KINDS OF FAULTS NORMAL FAULT Up'hrown block Downlhrowc block THRUST FAULT Diagram taken from Encyclopedia Americana PAUL LOUP III KING OF THE JUNGLE As we close out a new school year ,1 would like to first of all compliment the yearbook staff for doing another excellent job in this year’s annual; secondly compliment the young men and women who are Woodlawn High School students. These young people in my opinion are some of the finest in . our country. It’s a pleasure for me to come to work each day knowing that I i will be working with these enthusiastic young people. I know that this yearbook will become more valuable to each of you in the years to come, as you pursue your careers and settle into your adult lives. I wish only the best for each of you and hope you will be happy with the rest of your lives. 1 MRS. WILLIE JOHNSON, API Being the Assistant Principal for Instruction at Woodlawn High School is both fufilling and rewarding, because I take great pride in our school, student body and facul ty. In recent months, we have broadened our perspectives by reaching out to others in the community and in return, others have reciprocated. For example, our recent adoption of Heritage Manor Nursing Home has been a positive experience not only for the residents of the home, but also for our students and teachers. We have found ways to bridge the generation gap by learning from each other. In addition, we were recently adopted by the Lutheran Church of our Saviour, and as part of our adoption activities, The Woodlawn Off Campus Learning Center” was opened. Our learning center is off to an excellent start, with the potential for further expansion in the future to include areas other than mathematics. I have reason to feel proud of Woodlawn, because of the many positive and creative pursuits. We continually upgrade and reevaluate our curriculum, discarding methods and ideas that do not work, and maintaining those that are relevant and meet the needs of our students. In the future, as always, we will continue to strive for excellence and positive productivity from our administration, faculty and student body. MR. ELLIS GAUTHIER, APD The longer I stay at Woodlawn the more amazed I am at our student body. Regardless of what is said of our young generation, I find them to improve more and more each year. So many of our young people are taking advantage of the many opportunities that are available to them. When I encounter them years after high school I find how successful they have become. This makes me so proud of Woodlawn students and the small part I may have played in their success. fc Ken Almond Regina Almond Belle Bailey Paul Bailey Linda Bosch Lloyd Bosch Julie Davis Faye Brydels Col. 8ob Cook FACULTY MY GREATEST MRS. The first semester started off the year with a new staff getting to know everyone. The staff had many protects that went on during this time such as. a week of student pictures, a day of selling business advertisements, and preparing first and second issues of Paw Prints newspapers. We also organised many elections for class favorites, teacher and senior superlatives. Who’s Who. and Mr. and Miss Woodlawn. This year the staff has tried to become more of a service organization by providing refreshments at the faculty meetings, a new copier for the library, donating stadium seats for the Homecoming court, and sponsoring our Homecoming parade. The second semester started off kind of hectic with the staff having to rush to meet deadlines. The work got crazy trying to finish pages and copy at the last minute. But the group pulled together and got the |ob done. In a depressed economy, there were real doubts about being able to fund this book. However, the students and the business community came to our aid by matching the previous year’s advertisements and surpassing our goal of selling over 550 books this year. The Echo staff, through many long hours of hard work and with the added help from some of our faculty members and students, would like to say THANK YOU for helping make the 37th issue of this book a reality and a tremendous success. David Dodge At the beginning of the 1986-87 football season, the Panthers were rated by the 6 AAA coaches to be one of the contenders for the district title and rightfully so. Following the 1985 season with only one district loss, our coaches and players believed that we had the nucleus of an outstanding football team with great potential. In spring practice and summer workouts our team showed every sign of living up to it's billing. However, after an opening game victory over Catholic High the Panthers went into a three game slump which was worsened by some nagging injuries and extremely hot weather. After losing their first district game to Redemptonst by a heartbreaking 1210 score the Panthers hit the comeback trail with a pulse pounding 21-20 win over a strong Bogalusa squad Following this, a healthy group of Panthers reeled off three straight in district over Donaldsonville (33-8). Walker (20 6). and Ptaquemme (27-20). Doraldsonville was a preseason favorite and Plaquemme was the 1985 champions. However, these victories took their toll with several injuries at key positions and in the contest with Zachary the Panthers went down to defeat. They rebounded with the final game of the season to whip Port Allen 21-13 and earn a third strait trip to the state play offs, something that no other Woodlawn team had done in the history of the school. The Panthers venture into the play-offs this year was short ended after the first game, a 32-3 set back at the hands of St. James High School. Special congratulations go out to this group of seniors for being the only senior class in 6 AAA to be in the play-offs all three years of their varsity competition and the only class in Woodlawn's history to be in the play-offs three straight years. Everywhere we go. people are amazed at the quality of volleyball that we play. When these young ladies reach their senior year, they will be one of the top teams in Louisiana. Right now their goal is to come in first in our district. They have the ability and the drive, and that's what it takes. v 0 L L E Y B A L L 141 top row: Mgr. Tern Bell. Carrie Mosley. Tylee Jackson. This group which consisted of one senior, two juniors, seven sophomores. and three freshmen compiled an impressive season record of 14-4 and district record of 10-2. This group of young ladies showed team spirit on the playing field and off. They worked hard to “pump” each other up during slumps in games. One of the team characteristics that I am most proud of as a coach was the way they came back from their first regional play off game without excuses , with heads held high, saying “We just didn't play well enough to win. The team slogans for the state tournament are This is where we should be and The best is yet to come! From the coach — know where you are today and never lose sight of where you want to be tomorrow! Our Spring track program took off right where we left off from Cross Country by having a very successful season. We won 4 meets and finished second in three. In the Grizzly relays we finished second to Catholic High by a mere point and a half. One of the 3 major high lights of this track season was the panthers trip to Pensacola, Florida to compete in the Gulf Breeze Invitational track meet in which our Panthers performed well and won the meet rather easily. The second high light was that our J.V. track team won the 6-AAA District Championship by scoring 180 points. And last of all, our Panther Varsity track team finished as the 6-AAA District runner-up losing to Donaldsonville by a mere nine points. 1st Row: Chad Moore. Jason Wilson. Sean Jackson. Sean Tubre. It is a very difficult thing to do — put this yearbook together, that is. It takes a lot of creativity, good ideas, brainstorms, hard work, and panic. The group we formed became very close friends and very bad enemies sometimes. That is the way it is when people work so closely together under such stressful circumstances. I hope that each one of our group remembers this class with affection. I know that I will. I give to each of you my appreciation for a job well done, my thanks for going the extra distance when I called on you, my pride in you as an individual, and my friendship because you are so special. I applaud the following: Stacie Arseneaux, Shelly Burr, Pam Crawford, Susan Edwards. Tim Heath. Tylee Jackson. Christy Kaiser, Dana Kimbrough. Lauren LaCasse, Denny Lam. Michelle Mayes, Hayley McConnell, Faye Michel. Susan Mullins, Jim Walsh, and Laurie Yawn. Thanks for everything!
