The Junior-Rotary Coronation was a little different than usual. Besides the usual candidates there was another couple from each class who wore the costume that had been worn on the float. The candidates were: K-Katie Johnson and Paul Slinkard; 1-Amy Welker and Jamie Cook; 2-Holly Cook and Jim Null; 3-Crystal Brown and Chris Deck; 4-Malanie Swan and Jimmy Yount; 5-Melanie Marquis and Jamie Boyer; 6-Beth Stacy and John Brown; 7- Lorie Mayfield and Mike Lincoln; 8- Angie Sitze and Keith Bccl; 9-Joyce Sperling and Wade Wilkinson; 10-Leah Kempfer and Therrell Reed; 11-Teresa Davis and Stanley Long; 12-Cindy Kimbcl and Albert Arnzen. The crowns were carried by Meredith Jackson, A.J. Green and Lilo Whitener. AMY WELKER, the first grade candidate, was crowned elementary princess. The eighth grade candidate, ANGIE SITZE, was crowned junior high queen. The high school queen was the junior candidate, TERESA DAVIS. The retiring queens were Lisa Baker, Carrie Overschmidt, and Kim Wilfong. The students wearing costumes were: K-Holly Self and Ryan Duley; 1-Julie Yount and Kenny Brown; 2-Angie Self and Derek Green; 3-Angela Lincoln and Peter Rhodes; 4-Cindy Toombs and Russel Basham; 5-Megan Cook and Tony Lincoln; 6-Aimee Elfrink and Mackey Smith; 8-Becky Clark and Rusty Robinson; 9-Michelle Gullett and Sean Crader; 10-Vicki Buttry and Thor Hurst; 11-Janet Deck and Eric Mayfield; 12-Stephanie Nalley and Phillip Stanfill.

JUNIOR - ROTARY PARADE CORONATION Dear Diary, This year’s parade was like being in a “Time Machine”. Each class was given a theme, beginning with the “stone age” and ending in “the future”. Kindergarten represented the Stone Age; First grade - Plains Indians; Second grade - Colonial America; Third grade - Civil War Era; Fourth grade - Gold Rush Days; Fifth grade - Gay 90’s; Sixth grade - Roaring 20’s; Seventh Grade - World War II (40’s); Eighth grade - American Graffiti (50’s); Freshmen - Flower Children (60’s); Sophomores - Space Age (70’s); Juniors - Punk Rock (80’s); Seniors - Futurama. The elementary first place winner was fifth grade; second place went to second grade; third place was awarded to first grade. The junior high-high school winner was eighth grade; second place went to the seniors; and third place was taken by the sophomore class.

FHA PRESIDENT CROWNED BARNWARMING QUEEN The annual FFA-FHA Barnwarming was held Friday. October 26 in the Woodland High School gym. Games included the barrel race, egg toss, and life saver game. Homemade apple cider was part of the refreshments, and sandwiches and cookies were provided by FHA members. Right - Hester Fox.
