YEARBOOK CORONATION The 1984-86 Woodland Cardinal Year- book Coronation was held on March 26. “Up Where We Belong,” was the theme of the evening. The stage was decorated with a rainbow, balloons on the walls and suspended from the ceiling, and bouquets of balloons cascading from the floor. The fifth grade candidate, Stephanie Lossing was crowned elementary princess, by the retiring prinoess, Donna Brotherton. Stephan- ie’s escort was Daniel Wilkinson. Donna was escorted by Robert Elledge. Other candidates were: Kindergarten - Karen Wene and Justin Fox: First - Ruthie Tipton and Luke Cowell; Second - Carrie Miller and Jason Nanney; Third - Tabitha Spiroff and Jimmy Long; Fourth - Shirley McNece and Chris Brown; Sixth - Becky Brown and Donnie Grubb. Retiring Queen, Jana Pridemore, crowned Angie Womer, Junior High Queen. Angie was escorted by Rusty Robinson. The seventh grade candidates were Mahetta Angel and Jason Hopkins. Jana was escorted by Roger Brennecke. The M.C.s were Hester Fox and Ted James and music was provided by Brian Derton. Balloons were given to the children in the audience by Mrs. Jackie Duley, the clown. Lisa Hahn, the Sophomore candidate, was crowned' High School Queen by Retiring Queen Tina Douglas. Lisa was escorted by Thor Hurst. Tina’s escort was Dwayne James. Freshmen candidates were Kristi Simmons and Mike Rice. Juniors - Shannon Darby and Randy Ladd. Seniors - Donna A 11mon and Aaron McIntosh. 25

DAZZLING GOWNS AND STUNNING TUXEDOS — PROM 1985 You’re the Inspiration (a song by Chicago), created the setting for the 1985 Prom with a beautiful array of gowns and handsome tuxedos. May the third found many people rushing home from school to get dressed and heading to the SEMO University Ballroom. Music and videos were provided by Super Sound. At eleven o'clock the Prom was over—but the memories of it would last a lifetime. Right Rick Fields was Prom King and Kim Bollinger was Prom Queen.

JUNIOR - ROTARY PARADE CORONATION Dear Diary, This year’s parade was like being in a “Time Machine”. Each class was given a theme, beginning with the “stone age” and ending in “the future”. Kindergarten represented the Stone Age; First grade - Plains Indians; Second grade - Colonial America; Third grade - Civil War Era; Fourth grade - Gold Rush Days; Fifth grade - Gay 90’s; Sixth grade - Roaring 20’s; Seventh Grade - World War II (40’s); Eighth grade - American Graffiti (50’s); Freshmen - Flower Children (60’s); Sophomores - Space Age (70’s); Juniors - Punk Rock (80’s); Seniors - Futurama. The elementary first place winner was fifth grade; second place went to second grade; third place was awarded to first grade. The junior high-high school winner was eighth grade; second place went to the seniors; and third place was taken by the sophomore class.
