RICHARD TROUT Superintendent of Woodland Schools Superintendent's Message — 1981 Cardinal Yearbook What Next? When your great-grandfather was small, there were no telephones, no automobiles, no buses. There was no radio or television, and the airplane was considered impossible. We now have all sorts of inventions. We have learned how to handle different diseases and how to prevent them. Man has even taken his first trip to the moon. What Next? Our greatest need is to develop health, wealth and happiness for all people. If we could just find some way to teach people to use common sense just think how much happier this world would be. You have been given a bag of tools, A formless rock and a bag of rules, and each must make, before life has flown, A stumbling block, or a stepping stone. It is my hope that your education assists you in obtaining the tools necessary to build stepping stones toward being successful in life. — Richard Trout BOARD OF EDUCATION L to R Jack Leslie. Jr., Don lames, Kelly Francis. Arvil McIntosh, |o Ann Shrum. Robert W Cray (President) 6

H.S. PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE To the Graduate — To the Woodland Student Body and especially the graduating class of '81. Once again it has been my pleasure to have the opportunity to work with you. As we enter the decade of the I980's I think it would benefit us to do our best in relation to all life and especially our educational pursuits. Quality education in the 1980's is the most significant issue confronting youth. They are entering a tight job market which demands the creative use of intelligence in order to succeed. It is our job as educators to challenge the minds and make them produc- tive. It is your job as students to have the motivation and driving force that makes one successful. Together we will succeed in this endeavor — RonWene I RON WENE High School Principal MODEAN FILER High School Secretary H.S. OFFICE STAFF PAM WESBECHER Office Assistant 7
