THE CARDINAL 1976-77 Woodland R-IV School District Lutesville, Missouri 63762 Table of Contents Dedication Staff Foreword Administration Faculty Seniors Juniors Sophomores Freshmen Activities Organizations Athletics Junior High Elementary Advertising Dedication With sincere appreciation, the staff of the 1977 Cardinal Yearbook would like to dedicate this edition to Mr. Jay Mondy. Foreword Procrastination is the thief of Time. - And practicing it can sure mess up the best-laid plans of mice and men - and yearbook staffs. As individuals we have discovered some valuable information. Hope- fully we can all learn and profit from it. We became aware that some- times time-consuming personal interests need to be pushed aside when scheduled deadlines and appointments must be met. We found out that the let George do it attitude toward responsibilities won't work if good old George won’t do it either. Those of us who faced our assignments are proud of the work we did. We regret that some portions of the book are not as complete as we would like. Please accept our efforts to compile this album of memories of the 1976-77 school year. - The Yearbook Staff 4 RANDEL BLANKENSHIP SUPERINTENDENT B. S. Ed. Arkansas State M. A. Memphis State EDS Southern Illinois Univ., Carbondale, 111. In modern America it is a fact that all important decisions draw on information possessed by more than one person. These decisions draw on the specialized scientific and technical knowledge, the accumu- lated information and experience of many persons. It is imperative for the continued improvement of the democratic way of life that we learn to work effec- tively together. Individual talent must be brought to bear on the common purpose. WOODLAND SCHOOL BOARD FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: Lester Barks, president; Randal Blankenship, superintendent; Bob Gray, L. L. Bridges, Earl Lutes, Russell Greer, and David Conrad. 6 Richard Trout Jay Mondy B. S. E. Arkansas Slate M.S.E. Arkansas State Ed. S. SEMO U. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the 1977 Cardinal Staff for the completion of a fine yearbook. As you thumb through the pages of this book in future years, I am certain each of you will pause to reminisce and have fond memories brought to mind. As you complete your high school career and go through the commencement ceremony, you mark the end of an important phase in your life. It is an occasion in which all who know you can share in your sense of pride and accomplishment. No one will have more pride in your accomplishment than the faculty and staff here at Woodland. Graduates and underclassmen, 1 challenge you to set goals in life and begin to make plans to achieve these goals. Commencement is not the end of your education; but only a phase in the continuous process of learning. Attaining these goals won’t be easy and you won’t do it by tearing down by negative thought or belittling. You can do it by hard work, humility, hope and faith in mankind. Try it! Q B.S.E. and M.S.E. Arkansas State Univ. Specialists Degree Univ. of Mo. Congratulations to the Cardinal Staff for another fine yearbook. May I extend my thanks to Mary Jane Graham, your editor, the entire Cardinal staff, and to Mr. Elfrink, your advisor. You are to be com- mended for all the hard work, care and anxiety it takes to complete a publication of this nature. Greetings also to the faculty, students and patrons of the Woodland School system. It has been a pleasure working with and for you the past two years. It is with deep regret our relationship as it now stands, must end. Surely as the sun will break over the hori- zon, life will go on. To all of you, especially the students, set yourselves high goals and work extremely hard to accomplish these goals. You can if you have the desire and determination. I dare you! There is an old saying, We become what we think about.” If you want to go a little further, We become what we think about all day long. Think about this! Anyone can be nothing. It takes a special person to really become someone. 7 SCHOOL NURSE ■ Brenda McIntosh R.N. Degree Barnes School of Nursing St. Louis, Mo.
