THE 1970 CARDINAL Woodland School Lutesville, Missouri Administration 7 Faculty 11 Classes 17 Seniors 19 Organizations 49 Athletics 77 Junior High 89 Elementary 101 Favorites 125 Advertisers. 135 2 Table of Contents WANDA WOODRING Editor-in-chief Dear Readers: We of the Cardinal Staff who are about to depart as graduates of 1970 sincerely hope that in future years this issue of The Cardinal will be a cherished momento of happy years at Woodland - a reminder of favorite classmates and of the wonder- ful hours outside the classroom. For most of us, we have been here for our four years of high school. Now we must leave and step out to face a future that is very uncertain. In whatever de- gree of success or failure we may find ourselves in years to come, if a glance at these pages will lighten our labors - if only for a single moment - we deem our yearbook worth while. Each of the students here at W. H. S. had a part in making this school year one to be remembered. Each event will be remembered; some were happy occasions, and others sad, but they are made a part of our school career - a time never to be forgotten. In closing we would like to express our appreciation and give recognition, to the members of the Class of 1970 who have given their time to produce this year- book. We hope you enjoy The Cardinal. It was ours for almost a year. Now it be- longs to you. 3 Dedication The Journalism ('lass of 1970, wishes to dedicate this editionof the Woodland Cardinal, to Mrs. Thelma Pomeroy, for her years of faithful service to her work, and for her guidance and untiring friendship she has shown to the students of W.il.S. Appreciation In order to show our appreciation for his years of teacliing the students good sportsmanship, and help- ing keep the school spirit alive. We sincerely show our appreciation to: Mr. Charles McDonald Superintendent’s Message RANDEL BLANKENSHIP There was a time in the past history of America that undeveloped and underdeveloped human talent meant only that an individual's ambitions would not have been reached. It meant that a person would not accomplish goals that were as lofty as he could have attained and the effect would be only on himself. In the world of today a society, characterized by rapid change and unequaled com- plexity, cannot afford waste in human talent any more than it can afford waste in its diminishing mineral resources or other natural resources. It is the mission of all Ameri- cans who are interested in maintaining our way of life to use every possible avenue to develop human potential to its fullest extent. It is imperative while we are developing human potential that we keep foremost as our purpose the need to use the developed potential for human good. We must instill in the minds of our young the concepts not only of personal efficiency, but responsibility to society as well. R. J. B. 6 “Ours is the founded on a MR.
