SCHOOL PLANT There were no regrets as school began in the new' building in the fall. The newness of almost every- thing made for a pleasant beginning of the new school year. Students will remember that the cafeteria and kitchen facilities were still unfinished and that for several weeks they had sack lunches. Some diffi- culties were encountered during the year- furnace failures, roof leaks, electrical wiring problems, etc., but for the most part everything went smoothly. Lack of landscaping, paving, and other outside preparations made it seem desirable to forego extensive photography of the new facilities from the outside, and wait until a later time to feature a more complete layout of the new building in the yearbook. The interior of the new facilities are evident in the background of many of the snapshots throughout this book.

DEDICATION IN FOND MEMORY OF A CLASSMATE LYNN UPCHURCH To the ones he was loved by he was known as a person who had deep understanding for their rights, problems, and feelings. To those who knew him he was known as a boy who always had a friendly smile and a hello, and was never too busy to give a little of his time to share an experience or help solve a problem. To his teachers he was known as a brilliant student who was always an example to teach others by; never one to cause confusion, get attention, or to lack in class preparation and class dis- cussion. To his co-workers in Future Farmers of America he was known as a proven leader in whom they put their trust by choosing him as an officer. He had many friends, few enemies; and there were others who were almost unaware of his existence because of his quietness, his air of shyness, and his enjoyment of being by himself. He seemed to be in school only for the basic reasons of learning and helping others to learn. It is tragic that a boy who has done so much good and so little evil should be chosen by God to help in His work because he could have helped so many others who were not fortunate enough to have his optimism and bright outlook on life; but life is never a certainty to the ones who seem to deserve life the most, but is taken from anyone in a second. Hecannotbe considered dead; onlyhisbody has been removed from this world. His assets of honesty and sincerity will serve as a never- dying memorial to his character for his classmates, the students of Woodland High, and all others who knew him. --Don Fisher

Still the same old Gymnasium on the hill in Lutesville. The Agriculture Building near the Gym made a transportation program necessary. The lower grades still made use of the building in Marble Hill.
