S E X E T T E Chorus The High School Chorus, under the ahle direction of Mr. John Fluke, has prog- ressed rapidly this year. The first appearance of the chorus was at the annual Christmas program held on Decemher 18. On April 12 it took part in the Southwest Washington Music Meet. They also took part in the Spring Festival. It is hoped that next year's chorus will continue the excellent work achieved this year. The Girls Sextette The sextette made many puhlic appearances throughout the year, including per- formances at Rainhow, lfasu-rn Star and Masonic affairs, the Senior Ball, the Women's Club, junior and Senior plays, and the Cowlitz County Teachers' Convention. However, the groups greatest thrill came when they entered the contest for solo and small enseinhle guiups at Shvlton, X'if'asliington, in March. The girls returned with beaming faces and tl rating ot' excellent plus. Four memhers of the sextette. Patsy Clark, Anne lnsell, Shirley Thomas, and Betty W'icker, will graduate this year. The two junior memhers, Bonnie Treick and Florestine Simonis, will form the nucleus for next years sextette. A E T ,

Shortly after the opening of school, a Woodland School Safety Patrol was organ- ized with the assistance of Sergeant Jack Kenney and Officer Virgil Matson of the State Patrol. The purpose of the patrol was to safeguard students as they crossed intersec- tions and streets. jerry Forslund was elected captain, with Paul Blair and Franklin Williams as lieutenants. There were twenty-one members. After much shuffling and reshuffling of the squad, the second semester was started with Wayne Stoliby as captain and Paul Blair and Milo Blair as lieutenants. The rest of the squad included Darwin Nelson, Wayne Bozarth, Ronnie Neil, jerry Forslund, Don Meeker, Mark Tomlinson, Bim Swenson, Alvin Babcock, Don Sears, Don Peterson, jim Darr, Pete Holloway, Harry Dehning, Walt Warren and Gene Watson. The patrol was sponsored by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. These organizations purchased raincoats, hats and belts for the patrol to wear. They also furnished several evenings of entertainment, including basketball games, shows, and lunches. Mr. Hanft helped plan the entertainment.
