Dawson, Mr. Stroud The Freshman class honored us with a party. The little gym was nicely decorated and everyone enjoyed themselves. During football season the seventh and eighth grades played and the eighth grade won, 6-O. At a seventh-eighth grade Halloween party, cider and doughnuts were served and dancing and games were enjoyed by all. In November the Audubon Bird Club was organized. Some students weren't in- terested as much as they thought and it was reorganized in February. The club went on a field trip in April to study birds and animals. M The eighth grade boys played several basketball games with neighboring schools. Two games with LaCenter and two games with Kalama all ended in defeat for the eighth grade. jerry Hanft, the coach, did a very good job of coaching the team. In April, we held a party in the gym. Refreshments were served. Dancing was the main amusement of the evening and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Mr. Fluke, Mrs. W'illiams Using a Hallowe'en theme, the freshmen started the year's activities by giving a party for the eighth grade. Later another party was given in honor of St. Valentine's day. A false ceiling of all colors was used and a nice evening was enjoyed by all. The class has chosen the colors kelly green and White for class sweaters. They will be ordered early next fall. The ninth grade Red Devils really amazed the students, community, and every- one in the Trico League during basketball season this year. They played a lot of the second string games and won most of them. The freshmen have enjoyed an unforgettable year and are looking forward to three equally successful years in high school.

S E V E N T H G R A D E J At the first of the year there were sixty-three pupils in the seventh grade. Forty- two of them came from the Woodland Grade School and others entered from up-river schools and other districts. The officers elected for the year were: President ..,.........,.... ..,...... Harley Baumgart The students who worked on the Beavertonian were Shirley Thunder and jasper Little. The representative for the School Improvement Committee was Mitzy Driver. The first seventh grade party was a Hallowe'en party on the 31st of October. The next party was a Valentine party held on February 12. They played games, danced, and had refreshments. When the school had its annual Curtis Publishing Company magazine sale, two seventh grade pupils won the top awards. Fred I-lyke won the first prize, a table model radio, and jasper Little also received a certificate of outstanding achievement. One football game was played with the eighth grade. Out of six basketball games played, three were lost. The games were played with Kalama, LaCenter, Clover Val- ley, and the eighth grade. Marjorie Jensen, a seventh grader, was one of the junior high yell leaders. She and Wayne Stoliby went to Vanport with some upper classmen to see how they con- ducted their activities.
