Opening Faculty Organizations Sports Features Classes Senior Section Closing Our dreams and aspirations give our lives mean- ing. While different people have different ideas of fulfillment and success, we all need something for which to strive. The spirit of Woodland is com- prised of a diverse collection of ideas, opinions, and perspectives. Whether we lean toward aca- demics, athlectics, social growth, or personal awareness as a measure of our individual success, one thing is constantly true: We are all here to grasp all the experience we can toward realizing our goals. In doing so, we amplify a separate goal-the continuance in the Woodland spirit for those to come. Through our successes in various areas of interest, we contribute to, and provide the assurance of the revitalization of the Woodland spirit of achievement for our successors. School spirit gives a student body unity. With this unity, ob- tained by athletic support al- most any worth-while endeav- or ccm be accomplished. Warrior spirit can be seen in the pep rallies and large turnouts at sports events. These pages are dedicated to the things that students are not allowed to have or do during school. Regardless to the rules, these students definitely found a way to break them. am a a E: m L gawk L w , , aw L we Lg n15 wmaemwmmmm E . hm? x La 59 mmnsmgm $25 geaPad 5; L L a swag L L sL L? The Chorale performs Christmas songs i, Practice make perfect. Emmi; isv Do-Re-Me-Fa-So-La-Ti-Doc nYes, the Chorale does warm up! Even though the group consisted of many talented youngsters, Warmups were still necessary. Professional though they were, practice did make the performances perfect. The chorole can accredit their proteas- sionalism to their director, Mrs. Dorothy Carter. Under her leader- ship the group made special ap- pearances at the Choral Festival . and the Baccalaureate Services. They also graced the community with their annual Christmas con- cert and cabaret shows. This year's chorale worked hard to pre- sent us with shows better than Broadway! Chorale concerts frequently included solo pieces, such as this one featuring Miss Yvette Terry. Woodland's Drama Club, under the leadership of Mr. Newton, added spice to everyone's life. All eligible guys and girls were given the opportunity to model their fa- vorite sportswear, dressweor and formal wear ensembles. However, good looks and charm were not the only cate- gories! The contestants were posed a question to determine how well they could speak on theirfeet and in front of an audi- ence. Judges scored the contes- tants in the three fashion cate- gories and the mystery question and the scores were tallied. Woodland was very proud to have Eldred as its first Mr. Wood- land. The theme for the 1985-86 Homecoming was Hooray for Hollywood . The first stars to daz- zle our eyes were Kim Brooks and Romani Locke, the ninth grade representatives. Next making their debut were Marva Woods and Nechole Murchison, the tenth grade represen- tatives. Representing the eleventh grade were Ginger Taylor and Jami Northern. At the top of the ladder were veteran stars Achele Price, Pam Williams and the young starlet Dcwnette Lounds. These lovely debutantes represented the senior class. Through artistic talents of members of the different classes, we decorated our field. The freshman were represented by the uWizclrd of 02 followed by Yul Brynner repre- senting the sophomores. The juniors were repre- sented by The Supremes. And finally the seniors saluted Hollywood. Last but definitely not least the senior sponsors of 1985-86. The senior sponsors represented the senior varsity ath- letes. Although the Warriors were defeated on Homecoming, it was still a festive occasion for everyone involved. It is the one time in the year where dreams really do come true. The cobwebs of the mind are brushed away; the cogs are oiled and begin to move; the ideas spring forth. A STAR iS BORN . . . on stage . . . before a live oudi- ence . . . among our peers! Dancers have their chance to leap, whirl, and turn amid the lights. Singers, shaking with fright, have their time to show the world how good music can sound. It's the scramble off the stage, the grabbing of the next costume, the heat of excitement when the show is great. It's the confidence one gets from doing his best with the talent given only to him or her. The dream-plunges one to the depths of his soul with the demand for excellence and lifts one to the pinnacle of success, acceptance, confidence, and STARDOMH Kimberly Brooks, Lisa Groover, Lonita Bussey, Lashawn Tolbert The Freshman Class brought a re- newed feeling to Woodland. As Woodland's largest class, they evoked a wave of enthusiasm in pro- portion to their size. They participat- ed wholeheartedly in school pep ral- lies, winning several of the spirit contests.
