Their schedule was tough and they only won one match. It seemed they never could get everything together. The team worked long and hard and it paid off because they did win quite a few individual games. Every game was played to the glory of God. One thing that stuck in the back of their minds was that it did not mat¬ ter if they won or lost, it was how they played the game. If they knew within themselves that they did their best, it made accepting de¬ feat a lot easier. The team often got discouraged and felt like giving up, but the one person that kept them going was their coach, Mrs. Robin Chunn. Everything she did was with the team’s best interests in mind. She was the best coach the team had had in a long time. There was a special love between the team and their coach and that love was all they needed to have a winning season within themselves. Football Fever Football season at WBCS kin¬ dled the spirits and lifted the hopes of fans, cheerleaders, and players as we anticipated the best season ever. The 25 man team included 15 seniors, determined to make their last year one to remember. We looked forward to playing in the state championship and as soon as we found out we were playing Kerwin, a new spirit and determination arose throughout the school. Although we lost 0-20, we were proud to hold second place in the state. Various memories will linger in the hearts and minds of all who had a part in the 1981 football sea¬ son, but one common memory will be that of unity and love between the team, coaches, cheerleaders, and fans.
