CLASS HISTORY In the year of 1968, Lisa Alexander, Shannon Cox, Phillip Link, Mike Cockerham, Jerry Roberts, Pam Hardee, Cathy Hinton, Mark Wi lliams, and Dawn Parks, along with many other boys and girls, entered the Kindergarten class at Woodland. Mrs. Harmon, Mrs. Peterson, and Miss Vance await us that year with juice, cookies, and naps, but little did we know what we would encounter in the next twelve years. At the end of the year we lost Lisa, Cathy, and Mark, but we gained Randy Bennett, Dwayne Tuggle, and Sherri Goins in the first grade. Now we began to learn all about Jane and her pet dog Spot. Lisa Alexander and Cathy Hinton decide to rejoin our class in the second grade and we also gain Mark Gough, Cindy Weaver, and Penny Bovender. This year we learn the secret to get out of class, raise your hand and to go to the restroom. Patti Lawson joins the class in the third grade but again we lost Lisa Alexander, she just can’t seem to make up her mind. As fourth grade comes around all of us girls are greatly disappointed, we were really looking forward to some new guyslbut we didn’t get any, in fact we lost one, Dwayne Tuggle. During the fifth grade Deborah Carlyle, Debbie Clagett, Janet Lasater, Connie Jolly, Robin Stevens, and Jeff Plemmons entered our class. School is now changing in many ways. We move from our old school building to a brand new one. Everyone was so excited including the teachers that it took us the rest of the year to get settled down. Tanya Alley is our only new addition to the sixth grade class. This is our last year for everyone to be in the same class, because now we are graducation into Junior-High. We gain Beth Binkley, Arnold Roope, Anita Edwards, and Kevin Hauser in the seventh grade. We went through a case of tardy slips because we were not use to changing classes in two minutes. Mark Williams decided to rejoin us in the eighth grade after a long vacation. Lisa Alexander has set Woodland’s record for entering and leaving school, because she rejoins us again in the ninth grade and decides to stay. John Lindler, Karen Mickey, and Fonda Mabe join us also. We didn’t lose or gain any students in the tenth grade until the middle of the year. Dwayne Tuggle returned after six years of absence. Some of us become eligible for our drivers license. That year Mrs. Smitherman took us on our first class trip in which we spent the night at Kure Beacb. During the eleventh grade we add two brothers and one girl to our class, Mark and Brent Wall and Karen Hatfield. In our attempt to raise money for the Junior-Senior banquet we had many options. Our bright idea of selling light bulbs burned out quickly. Finally, we are Seniors. As we view our past we see the memories that will always be in the hearts and minds of each member of the class of ‘81.’ Halloween Carnival, Senior projects, Senior play, sports, fund-raisers, Senior trip, final exams, and finally our Graduation. : By Shannon Cox Mark Gough L
