It also had its annual needy family drive at Christmas, at which time the student body always comes with the contribution of gifts. At the start of 1969 the council circulated a questionaire, m which several good suggestions and some complaints were brought to the attention of the council. The student council then presented some of these suggestions to the administration for possible approval. The council sponsored as- semblies concerning safe driving, drugs, and also a talent contest. The Future Homemakers of America is one of the largest organizations here at Woodlan and also holds the great- est number of memberships in the state. FHA is an organization of girls interested in the field of home econom- ics. The overall purpose of the club is to aid individuals in improving personal, family, and community living both now and in the future. In order to become an Honorary Chapter, each local chapter must complete projects concerning the state objectives: Making Your Money Behave and Leisure Time Constructive Time , along with submitting a scrapbook at the spring district meeting. Again this year, our chapter scrapbook, with a perfect rating, was chosen to go to the state convention in the summer. To fulfill our state requirements, our chapter had a representative from the Better Business Bureau speak to the club about Advertisement Frauds and Fakes , which came under Making your Money Behave . To carry out the second objective, Leisure Time Construc- tive Time, The chapter collected sheets in the community and presented them to the Allen County Cancer The Crisco Towards are presented each year to the outstanding students studying home econonnics. They are presented for high achievement, good classroom attitudes, cooperation, and a continued interest in home economics. Near the end of the year, the Junior and Senior members took a trip to Greenfield Village in Detroit, Michigan. The FHA doesn ' t stop at the local level, but continues on through district and state. Vema Rekeweg represented our chapter as the Northeast District Recreation Leader this year. The Betty Crocker Homemaker test is an annual test given on a national basis to select outstanding Senior girls in Home Economics. The test is part objective and part essay.
