Klopfenstein. The Woodlan Future Farmers of America chapter has been quite active the past year. There are 103 members in the chapter making it one of the largest in the state. The Crops Judging team placed first in the District contest, and high individual in the contest was Rex Wilson. The Poultry team also placed first in the District contest, Terry Hirsch being high individual in the District. Dan Coomer, Tim Kammeyer and Charles Dix placed first in the Talent Contest at the District, and will now compete at the Indiana State Fair. In the Entomology contest Ken Kneubuhler placed third in the Dis- trict, and Garry Schaaf placed fifth. Dan Kneubuhler placed fifth in District Live- stock Judging, and he will compete in the State contest held during the State Fair. With the help of two fine advisors, Mr. Fraser and Mr. Henschen, the chapter has remained as one of the best in the state. This group of fifty girls has presented music representing several periods of history. The Glee Club performed at the winter concert, the school talent show, and the spring concert. They also earned an excellent rating at the Northern Indiana School Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Association ' s contest. During the first half of the year, the choir was under the direction of Mr. Theodore Taylor. A change was made the next semester when Mr, Carl Nicholas of the New Haven area came to Woodlan and took over the choir. The Woodlan Mixed Choir is a group of sixty -four students who have sung literature that represents most of the periods of music history. This year May 16, 1967, the students assembled in the gym for the program. Some of the awards were as follows: Over 100 attended without missing a day this year, but six seniors attended for four years faithfully: Richard Bennett, Ron Hockemeyer, Ernie Meadows, Jim Hormann, Bob Hoeppner, Dick Lengacher. Debbie Hisner, a sophomore, achieved the honor of making straight A ' s during the year. The Mathematic ' s Award went to Ted Meyer. The Arion Award, presented by the Women ' s Committee of the Philharmonic Orchestra, was received by Kerry Litzenberg. Mary Pepe was given the scholarship by the F.T. A. and made the top points in that club. The Commercial Club honored Rita Wisniewski, and Donna Bruns, as being the girls with the highest average in business subjects for four years. In Football the most valuable offensive player was Kevin McLain. The most valuable defensive player was Denny Knoblauch. The most valuable track man with 96 points was Dan Coomer. In basketball the top field goal shooter was Bob Hoeppner; at the foul line with 77% was Monte Gerig; top rebounder was Kerry Litzenberg, Bob Hoeppner received a letter blanket as the outstanding Senior letter man. Woodlan ' s third annual homecoming, sponsored by the Student Council, was on the 28th of October this year. The Warriors defeated the Edon Eagles 19-0. Presided over by our queen, Pam Johnson, the cheerleaders, fans, band, and parade cheered our team on to victory. The band wearing the new uniforms, supplied by the work of the ban d parents, for the first time played. At halftime the winning floats were announced from the parade held be- fore the game. After the game, a victory dance was held in the gym . The queen of this year ' s Homecoming was Pam Johnson, a senior girl selected by the student body. The senior at- tendants were Sandy Smead and Jean Schaaf. The junior attendants were Darlene Delagrange and Judy Gerig.
