J ffl' jj h. -A january 23, semester exams started, and we Seniors were very delighted, for this would be our last cramming like crazy for tests in the old High School. Ianuary 28, we picked our class colors, motto, and flowers. Such a time, Diary, that we had trying to please everyone. It finally ended that we chose blue and silver for our colors, pink roses for the flowers, and our motto, Upward Forever, Backward Never. Ianuary 30, Shirley Rich won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow Contest for our school. February 25, five boys received their basketball jackets. My, they looked handsome! I guess everyone had to admit that we Seniors had the best-looking class. February 26, the Sectional tourney started, and since Mr. Ivy had taken our boys so far in the County we expected to win the Sectional. No, Diary, seriously, we all had great hopes, and we did win our first game, but when we went on to try to beat Concordia, our luck changed. Those terrible refs , of course it couldn't have been our boys! March 7, we picked our play, and this year, with the help of Mrs. Keller, we were going to give a Broadway production, Arsenic and Old Lace. Nine boys and three girls made up the cast. March 28, the Seniors held a surprise birthday party for Mrs. Keller. She was so shocked that we almost created a disaster. April 25-26, the night arrived for the fabulous presentation of Arsenic and Old Lace. Mrs. Keller was such a wonderful director, and the kids performed so marvelously, that all turned out perfectly. Well, Seniors, we've gone through the pages of several years, and you have heard about your experiences. You did have a glorious time despite all the little differences. Now let's look at the present. l'm sure you're all having a glorious time here tonight. The Iuniors have gone to a lot of work for us. l know all of you Seniors will want to thank the Iuniors for the lovely evening which we will remember for years to come. Now the time has come to glimpse into the future. Your Recognition Night will be held May l3, and the Valcdictorian and the Salutatorian will each receive a loving cup, and also the G. C. Henderson winner will be announced. May ll will be your Baccalaureate and Rev. H. Georg will be the speaker. May l7, l95S, will be the biggest night of your school life, the night you've been waiting for for twelve years. Commencement is a night that means much to you, your family, and your friends. Don Odle from Taylor University will be the speaker. May l8, you Seniors leave on your long-awaited trip to Washington and New York, and you get back to Fort Wayne the following Friday. Yes, your school days are finished now, and each of you will be going different directions. Your future lies within you yourself whether you be a success or a failure. But remember, Seniors, always keep your head up, strive for the best things in life, and remember always--take your Heavenly Creator as your lifetime partner, so that when you reach the end of your long walk, you can say, It's been a job well done. 1'Q I.
