History On one sunny fall morning in 1947, thirty-four rather frightened young people were meeting together for the first time at the Woodburn High School. We were shy at first but soon became acquainted and organized our Freshman Class. We selected for our officers, Dick Becker as President, Max Thompson, Vice-President and Carol Faulkner, Secretary-Treasurer. Later, after a rousing initiation party given by the Seniors we really felt a part of the Woodburn High School. We did much campaigning and were rewarded by having one of our class members, Carol Faulkner, selected Queen of the Fall Festival. We had quite a few parties and the year was soon over. After the surnmer vacation we returned to W.H.S. and discovered we were now Sophomores. As we were greeting our classmates we noticed sadly that our nurnber had decreased to twenty-eight, as Patty Lloyd and Max Thompson moved away, and we lost Lucille Delagrange, Sammy Delagrange, Loraine Eicher, Donald Reichhart and Marlin Riebersal. This year John Hetrick was elected President, Bob Wearley, Vice-President, Carol Faulkner, Secretary-Treasurer and Mr. McBride was our sponsor. After several parties the year soon came to an end. Before we knew it we were back again at the Woodburn High School, this tirne labeled Ju.niors . We did feel sad at the loss of Cecil Albrecht, Tune Caudle, Viola Delagrange, Norma Shafer and Maggie Zehr. Soon we plunged whole-heartedly into a lot of fun and hard work. 'We started by electing Tom Fuelling, President, Esther Kammeyer, Vice-President, Ruth Meyer, Secretary-Treasurer and Mrs. Wilrna Wetter, Class Sponsor. We soon took our first fling at dramatics and in October pre- sented Love Is Too Much Trouble . In the,cast of this successful comedy were: Pat Roberts, Esther Kammeyer, Tom Fuelling, Ruth Meyer, Dick Becker, Carolyn Moore, Marolyn Moore, Bob Wearley, Laura Norden, Kay Schulenburg, John I-letrick, Curtis Schmidt, Carol Faulkner, and Barbara Lake. Dick Becker won a radio for outstanding salesmanship in our magazine drive. Other Hot Salesmen winning awards were: Bob Wearley, Howard Hoeppner, Esther Kammeyer, Tom Fuelling, Lawrence Fogle and John Moser. After much hard work and planning, the Juniors entertained the Seniors at the annual Junior-Senior Reception. It was held at the American Legion Home and the theme was Deep South . We also sold cards and had a few more par- ties and our Junior year was too soon concluded. ' In the fall of 1950, twenty-two of our class returned for our big Senior year at Woodburn High School. We gained Max Thompson but, sad to say, lost Helen Bumpus, Barbara Lake and during the year Carol Faulkner and Howard Hoeppner. As usual we elected class officers, having Esther Kammeyer, President, Dick Becker, Vice-Pres- ident, Ruth Meyer, Secretary-Treasurer and Mr. Moser, our sponsor. The year started with a bang as all the girls campaigned for the title Queen of Woodburn Days . After a close race Ruth Meyer was crowned. As it is the custom we fully initiated the Freshrnen into W.H.S. at a party given for them. We kept busy with paper drives and bake sales until we started practicing for our second production, Ghost House , a chiller-driller mystery. The cast included Ruth Meyer, Tom Fuelling, Esther Kammeyer, Max Thompson, Marolyn Moore, Bob Wearley, Kay Schulenburg, Pat Roberts, Bob Ringenberg, Carolyn Moore, Dick Becker, and Curtis Schmidt.
