The Habit of Study QPFIZB Essayl UDX IS the application of the mlnd to books or learn mg 01 a settling of the mlnd upon a subJect to be lealned There are so mann people who do not iealize the great meaning of the word study Study is something ex eryone should do A studious person IS one who IS devoted to study or the acquisition of knowledge One need not be studlous to be a dlligent person It depends on how much he really wants to learn If a student wants to accompllsh a thlng he can concentrate and really learn So many students say they cannot study 1n the study hall or at home when there is noise If they are lntexested in their lessons they can study regardless of all the nolse going on around them A students parents should impress upon his mind when he first starts to Grammar school that he must get his lessons from day to day If he forms this habit early 1n life it w1ll remain with hun all through his school days After he gets into college he will look back and thank his parents and him elf for the hablt of study acqulred when he was young A student who goes to class and nevex has his lesson is a draw back to the class He keeps the others from going on and accomplishing more '1h1s klnd of person isnt as well liked as the one who studles and tries really to gain something 1n life He imaglnes that bluftlng and not studylng gets him many frlends but it doesnt When a student reaches college he will flnd many roads success and the other the road of lllllfflllg He has formed the habit of bluffmg in his grammar school and high school grades so he naturally takes this one in his college grades He will perhips go along fine until at the end of the snr weeks when the mountain of cxanunatlons will appear before him Hls fellow students will adxance on thelr Journey over this great mountain to the wide wolld beyond and he w1ll have to re mam at the foot of this great steep mountain He will look back and think about xw hat h1s parents had told of formlng the habit of studying At last he will deude to go back and take the road to success He w1ll advance on thls load very rapidly VS hen he comes to this mountain the second tune he mll climb right ow er and go down on the other slde ot the great vlllev beyond Vlltll the other students where he w1ll achieve fame ind suctess If every student will foxm the habit of studv he will find the load to knowledge and success comprtrxtlvelv easv to travel IOLA TRIPP M . A Promlse HL sun was sett1ng IH the west falnt xays of crlmson changed the clear blue sky to lavender and the snowy white clouds to a dainty pink The pme trees Whls pered softly and the Xvllld rustled through gently swaying thelr branches On a log neal the bank of a crystal clear lake sat a glrl gazlng dreamlly toward the sunset Tears trlckled slowly down her cheek LOUISE Roberts a sllght grrl of slvteen whose youthful rom ance had been shattered bv the father of her loser sat ln the spot where she had sald good by to hlm a few mlnutes before There under a whispermg pme Lee Morgan had promised to return to her when fate would permit for his ftther was takmg hmm to a forelgn country to make hlm forget hls sweetheart Two years passed aw tv Sudden misfortune came to the Robelts famlly and LOUISE was thrown Into the midst of the busy world for she felt she must help her famlly and she needed some thing to do to occupy her m1nd Louise secured a posltlon teachlng a small group of chlldren in the poorer sectlon of the clty She became so englos ed ln her work teachlng and helpmg the poor chlldren and their famllles that she ceased to long for her lover though she never forgot hrm nor doubted hxs promise She soon became known through her kind deeds and her cheerful d1spos1tion as Llttle 'VI1ss Sun shine Llttle glrls wlth broken dolls would come to her wlth tear fllled eyes to get them mended or to be comforted bv her lovlng words and she always succeeded ln comfortlng them Though busv wlth her school woxk Loulse was not excluded from the good tlmes of those her age VVhen she had promlsrd to walt for Lee she had also prmlsed to enjoy herself and he was to do the same for nexther knew how long lt would be before thev would meet agaln She llked to go to parties and dances though she mlssed Lee very much at these Loulse had a my'-.terlous pexfectlon ID her character whlch held her frlends to her her charmlng manners her winnlng smlle and sweet personalltv were hard to resist and she was the favor lte of her class She had manv SUIIOFS who adored her and mort than once had they pleaded for her hand but never had she S'll'l the word that would break he promlse On Louise s dresser sat a prcture of a bov wlth grave wlstful brown ewes whom she knew would sometlme come for her and she also knew she could nexex forget hlm Though Loulse re fused to marry any of her lovers she was so gxaclous ln her refus als that they could not thml 1ll of her To them she was a little queen over her faithful subyects One late September evenmpt whl'e lourse was on her xacatnon she walked through a grove of whispering pines thmkmg of the s W ff ' ' , .
