Editor? Message From our first awkward days as freshmen we, the Class of 1963, have exhibited peculiar and particular traits. These characteristics have been carefully sifted by Woodhull. Some have been nurtured: others - less desirable, have been nipped while in the bud. Consequently we possess the healthy individuality that makes for strength and unity of purpose, the ability and desire to achieve a common objective. Objectives, however, should be milestones only. For life is a succession of hopes and preparations. While our goal has been reached for the present, what is it we have gained? I would say the development of a more stable outlook for the trials that are yet to come. It is with sadness, some trepidation and yet an eager confidence that we close this chapter of our lives and begin a new one - one which depends on the strong foundation we have built here. Our young people, today, are faced with some of the greatest problems of all times . . . political, economic, social, psychological, emotional and physical. Upheavals of all kinds are taking place in rapid succession. Our very sense of values seems to be undergoing a drastic change. We ,wonder at the basic principles of right and wrong. We are pressed on every side with invitations to leave the straight and narrow path and join the throngs on the crooked and garlanded ones. The offers are fascinating and intriguing. What shall we do? What is the answer? In every period of history man has been faced with problems of similar magnitude and has survived. The strength of the man of courage, the loyalty of the man of faith, the comprehension of the man of learning, the ideals of the man of sound moral principles, all have worked together to bring order out of chaos. A : We must work together to build a solid background and understanding of the basic attitudes and needs of a worthwhile life. We must have standards of behaviour which are honest and forthright and fair. We must cultivate a desire to learn and foster a free spirit of inquiry. We must have the drive and determination to avail ourselves of the opportunities offered us to become young men and young women of sound thought and action. These are the bases for our problem solving. These are the reasons for our educational systems. These are the fundamentals of right living. These are our hopes for the future. ..4....e.
