What to believe and what not to be- lieve is very difficult. However, if we build our Uhouses on firm foundationsn the problems become easier. The lives of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt and Wilson along with the teachings of the Bible should serve as a mighty good bulwark against the Hshifting sandsu. Schools are striving to give its students such a background so that they may carry on the American Way of life. Sincerely, A Mr. A. B. Girls basketball made a big hit this year and promises to become as prominent in the athletic program in our schools and throughout Texas as is boys basketball. The l..ionessess were considered the most improved aggregation in the district and was the darkhorse of the district tournament at Rusk in which we lost to La Pryor in the semi-finals. The club was able to win nine games during the season and held every team well in check with the exception of the great Maydelle team. The team was composed of Margaret Dotson, senior letterman, Leola Wood, Shirley Newton, and Naomi Wallace, junior lettermeny Norma Keeling, Captain Maurine Roy and Bobbie Harp Sophomore letterrnenp Lois Henry, Freshman letterman, and the Sophomore squadmen, lola Walker, Weldon, Gwendolyn Crawford and Rheba Keeling. f l x' ' . This game closed the high school basketball careers of two fine seniors, Virgil Ramsey and Raymond Walker. Both will be greatly missed when next season rolls around, however, with Bill Collier to lead some very fine prospects we are looking forward to some greater things in the future. Raymond was recognized as one of the top basketball performers through out the area as was shown by his being selected on the all-tournament team in the Lon Morris College. Palestine, and Dialville Invitational Tournament and all-district. Sophomore Bill Collier ran Raymond a close record for honors bv being selected on the all-tournament teams at the Palestine, and Dialville Meets and bv also making the all-district selection. Virail Ramsey, Connie Warren, Iohn A. Gaydon, Randy Hall, Ben Graves, Wayne Durham and Lonnie Toe Alexander played an excellent brand of basketball also. 'Each of these boys will be back next year with the exception of Randy and Virgil HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEASON One: Winning runner-up award in Palestine Tournament.
