NHL! Baker-Yale T8 XX MARCHI WITH THE BA Getting up at 5 o'clock in the morning takes an awful lot of dedication especially when the early risers had a day of marching and performing ahead of them. The Band should be highly commended for their hard work this past year and at band camp last summer. Along with the Featherettes, Flag Corps, and Majorettes, the band performed in numerous parades including the Detroit Bicentennial Parade, the longest parade in history, and participated in Band Day at U. of M. Under the direction of Mr. Gross, the band gave excellent half time shows at the football games and helped cheer the guys on with a pep band. They also played for commencement exercises and concerts throughout the year . Pictured Above Left: Majorettes: V. Bieniek, C. Calla- way, P. Johnson. Not Pictured: L. Sprietzer, C. Pat- terson, M. Twisted ankles, ripped gloves, sore arms and muscles, were only a small part of this year's Ski Club. Being one of the best years for snow, the members made good use of it on trips to Mt. Brighton and Pine Knob. Since it was a new club with 125 members, a lot of organization was required to get things going. Arrangements for the trips , money-raising activities , and ski patch orders were all handled by newly- elected officers - Io Ann DiMartino, President: Diana Arthur, Vice Presidentg Rhonda Anderson, Corresponding Secretary, Terri Supple, Recording Secretary: and Mary DiMartino, Treasurer. When the first trip finally arrived, members grabbed their gear and jumped on the busses. The new members had quite a time adjusting to skis but with a helpful lesson from their instructors , finally got the hang of it and attempted the slopes alone . After conquering the towropes, the intermediate hills were a cinch, and the chair lifts super easy. If the members made it that far and were still alive there was always moguls and jumps to test the adventurous. By the time the last call came for the loading bus, everyone was exhausted . But the trip didn't end here. Theer was an hour and a half drive home with a stop-off at Mac's. As tired as everyone was the bragging of, How great I was . . . or Did you see me when . . . didn't end until school was reached and everyone went home tired - but happy. Much thanks goes to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pizzutti and Mrs. Joyce Gleiss for all of eir help in making this club a success. Although they only performed twice this year their practices were very intense under Miss Rube1's direction. The choir often had to remain after school or come on Saturdays to practice, but their efforts paid off when the group showed their talent at the Christmas and Spring Con- certs. SCHOLAR- SHIP COMMITTEE The Scholarship Committee worked very hard to raise money to give scholarships to deserving students. By receiv- ing donations from businesses, civic organizations, and their own funds, the group gave out 83000. Much thanks goes to the three sponsors whose help was invaluable . 93 KX' .p, -1.. Eight girls - kicking, yelling, jump- ing, and screaming - might sound like mass confusion, but it was only the Varsity Cheerleaders at work. The yearbook staff has been working busily this year preparing a Bicenten- nial Yearbook. Members of the staff visited Greenfield Village to take pic- tures used throughout the book . It was a hectic year, trying to find just the right pictures to put into the yearbook. Deadlines, layouts, pictures and ideas were enough to make any- one's head swim.
