Junior Miss The Memphis Junior Miss Pageant consisted of thirty-five girls representing thirty-five Memphis city and county schools. Participants were judged on talent, formal wear, march routine and personal conference, Practice for the pag- eant began one month before the two day pageant. Junior Miss received 350000, First alternate and Second alternate received 5lB200.00, and trophies went to Third and Fourth al- ternates. Cindy Miller as the 1969 Cardinal Queen went on to the Junior Miss Pageant representing Wooddale. We are very proud of our Junior Miss for out of the thirty-five girls, Cindy Miller was chosen Third alternate.

Sponsor? Choice There is only one word for this year's Spon- sor's Choice, Outstanding.7' Outstanding in ev- erything she attempts. This year the Sponsors of the Cardinal Yearbook chose Carol Knight in order to Recognize her many achievements for 1970. Carol's activities include Presidentof the National Honor Society, Editor of the Cardinal Yearbook, Student Council Officer, Active member in the Latin Club and a first place win- ner in the Latin Tournament. Carol also was awarded theNNational Merit Letter of Commen- dation. Despite these many activities, Carol maintained a straight A average and was select- ed as the class representative for graduation. Carol Knight proudly bows to this most deserv- ing title. 33
