Preparing For The Business World Courses in the Business Department build a foundation for the future, as stu- dents who prepare for a life in the ever expanding world of business take courses geared to their needs. Future secretaries learn skills such as typing and shorthand. Future clerks, buyers and managers learn the basics of busi- ness mathematics, economics, book- keeping, and law. Distributive Education provides for a half-day work and a half-day school program. Vocational Office Education pro- vides office jobs for the students. I24

Art Develops Creativity Brushes, paint, charcoal and clay . . . These are the tools of the art student and with them he may create many forms of art. The students are encouraged to put their own ideas into a physical form. They are instructed in how to use their creative minds to obtain the results they want. Old art, new art, op art and pop art . . . The students are taught art appreciation so they will have a better under- standing of the different types of art. The Art Department has added greatly to musical and the- atrical functions at Wooddale and has produced many prize- winning works.

ROTC 'Qlwiiilm Under the able direction of Maj. Sperry, Sgt. Hatley and Sgt. Kem- per the military units at Wooddale brought top honors to our school. The rifle team performed in their usual victorious spirit, the sponsors were beautiful, and the men in uni- form won a first place in Federal inspection. It has been a great year for the military at Wooddale. l25
