Hopefully, by the time a student completes English 12, he has learned to do far more than undangle participles. He should be able to in- telligently evaluate and discuss many kinds of novels, poetry, and drama. He should be able to express his thoughts logically and concisely in an original manner. and, above all, he should emerge from Wooddale with a desire to further his knowledge and understanding of literature, either in college or on his own. Wooddale's English teachers strive for these goals in their own particular ways. Many endow their classes with generous measures of their own personalities. A dry wit, a piercing thoroughness, an offbeat point of view - all these qualities contribute to making English a subject which both imparts and perpetuates learning. IIO English - Key To Se?

Guidance - In ormation And Advice Center In guidance you can always find Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Barnes, and Mrs. 'earout hard at work. Mrs. Leigh is the guidance secretar . The sever y - Il hundred new students who are added to Wooddale each year only lcrease their work. There is always someone wanting to know wheth- C or not to add this course or drop that course. They are always there listen and try to help you with your decisions. The counselors help the students decide what courses they will take J the ninth grade through the twelfth grade. They also help the stu- ents to decide what college to attend. The Guidance Department en- ourages us to take different tests and then returns the grades to us . . whatever they may be.
