We the class of 1963 wish to give special recognition to DR. STEPHEN K. LOVETT in appreciation for his service to Woodbury High during the past eight years. As we, in this class, are preparing to leave Woodbury High School, we are aware of the high level of education that has been offered to us during our years here. We look back on the rough Math classes, the painstaking Biology Lab Books, the trying Chemistry experiments, the difficult Latin and French translations, those P.D. stock reports, the English term papers, the American History Constitution Test, the Typing classes, and we are grateful for these experiences. We have been well prepared for whatever we choose to do after graduation. We, as a class, and as a representative of the student body, wish to express our thanks to Dr. Lovett for all his work in securing the faculty and facilities that have provided us with a good education. ✓

Superintendent’s Message MR. McGUIGAN In 1778 the French Statesman Turgot wrote of the Americans: This people is the hope of the human race. It may become the model. It ought to show the world hy facts, that men can be free and yet peaceful, and may dispense with the chains in which tyrants and knaves of every colour have presumed to bind them, under pretext of the public good. The Americans should be an example of political, religious, commercial and industrial liberty. From the very inception of our nation, Americans have accepted the responsibility of providing leadership for all free men and for all men who wish to be free. The American public school is one of the most dynamic forces which has been responsible for the continuance of our efforts to achieve this goal. Each of us has been under its influence. Each of us has been provided with the direction we need to help us carry this grave responsibility. The members of the faculty of Woodbury High School have presented you with an opportunity to learn about your environment and the things in history which are responsible for its development. Most of all you have been given an opportunity to make direct use of your knowledge so that you will be practised in the art of decision making, one of the most important responsibilities of a citizen. All of us at Woodbury High School hope that the decisions you will make will be made only after you know' the facts and carefully weigh the possible results of your decisions. The road ahead will be different for many of you. Some will go on to college, others to advanced schools which will teach a trade or vocation, others will go directly to w'ork. The important thing to remember is that your education has not ended here. It has begun. Your school has not supplied you with all the learnings available to mankind, we have simply supplied you with the tools you need to help you take advantage of this knowledge. May I wish you well in all of your future endeavors. Sincerely, HUGH E. McGUIGAN Superintendent of Schools 3
