“
We the class of 1963 wish to give special recognition to DR. STEPHEN K. LOVETT in appreciation for his service to Woodbury High during the past eight years. As we, in this class, are preparing to leave Woodbury High School, we are aware of the high level of education that has been offered to us during our years here. We look back on the rough Math classes, the painstaking Biology Lab Books, the trying Chemistry experiments, the difficult Latin and French translations, those P.D. stock reports, the English term papers, the American History Constitution Test, the Typing classes, and we are grateful for these experiences. We have been well prepared for whatever we choose to do after graduation. We, as a class, and as a representative of the student body, wish to express our thanks to Dr. Lovett for all his work in securing the faculty and facilities that have provided us with a good education. ✓ Board of Education Dr. McLaughlin, Mr. Sherwood, Mr. Wylie, Mr. Rives Mrs. Fleming, Mr. McGuigan, Mr. Wadsworth Administration Superintendent’s Message MR. McGUIGAN In 1778 the French Statesman Turgot wrote of the Americans: This people is the hope of the human race. It may become the model. It ought to show the world hy facts, that men can be free and yet peaceful, and may dispense with the chains in which tyrants and knaves of every colour have presumed to bind them, under pretext of the public good. The Americans should be an example of political, religious, commercial and industrial liberty. From the very inception of our nation, Americans have accepted the responsibility of providing leadership for all free men and for all men who wish to be free. The American public school is one of the most dynamic forces which has been responsible for the continuance of our efforts to achieve this goal. Each of us has been under its influence. Each of us has been provided with the direction we need to help us carry this grave responsibility. The members of the faculty of Woodbury High School have presented you with an opportunity to learn about your environment and the things in history which are responsible for its development. Most of all you have been given an opportunity to make direct use of your knowledge so that you will be practised in the art of decision making, one of the most important responsibilities of a citizen. All of us at Woodbury High School hope that the decisions you will make will be made only after you know' the facts and carefully weigh the possible results of your decisions. The road ahead will be different for many of you. Some will go on to college, others to advanced schools which will teach a trade or vocation, others will go directly to w'ork. The important thing to remember is that your education has not ended here. It has begun. Your school has not supplied you with all the learnings available to mankind, we have simply supplied you with the tools you need to help you take advantage of this knowledge. May I wish you well in all of your future endeavors. Sincerely, HUGH E. McGUIGAN Superintendent of Schools 3 • n LUCY ABBOT Editor SANDRA UPSON Ass't Editor GERRY BROWN KATHY GREEN Business Manager Ass't Business Manager WARRIOR STAFF DEDICATION It is improbable that the members of the class of 1963 will forget the instructor with whom they were confronted upon first entering their junior English class. Daily, seated at his desk and partially hidden by a neat row of books, this man, small in stature and seemingly meek, would through discussion encourage rather than force intellectual productiveness. His enthusiasm for that which he truly enjoyed was contagious, and his students would smile in appreciation when, with shining eyes, he would utter the familiar, You'd be amazed people.” However his helpfulness is not limited to the classroom. When he was a new face at Woodbury High School, he proved a willingness for service by becoming advisor to the 1962 Warrior. Since then he has been helpful to members of the Class of 1963 as a study guide, a reference, and a friend. Because of his continuing interest in all of us, with respect, admiration, and affection, the class of 1963 dedicates the 1963 Warrior to Mr. Adam Korpalski. 5 FACULTY English Department Language Department Mrs. Marie McManus Mr. Adam Korpalski Mr. Anthony Angarano, Jr. Mr. Kenneth Arminio Miss Anne Merrill Mr. Mario Patricelli 6 Mr. Herbert Grandahl Mr. Thomas Juliani Mr. Gaillard Ashley Music Department Mr. John Antey Mr. Hugh Ripper Science Department Mr. George Page Mr. Robert Dibble Art Department Vocational Agricultural Department Mr. Henry Eykelhoff Mr. David Breakell Industrial Arts Department Mr. William Birmingham Mathematics Department Mr. Charles DeCarlo Mr. Gordon Decker 7 Business Education Department 8 Library Clerk Mrs. Allen Broomall Physical Education Department Mrs. Alfred Thyberg Mrs. Stephen H.
