Wohiscan Woodbum High School Woodburn, Oregon 1953 To those who believe in the future progress of Woodbum High School Dear Friends, September 18th was the date of the first television reception in Woodburn. The innovation of this modem miracle of communication has and will change many of our ways of thinking and much of our way of living. This is progress. Progress in our material culture must be accompanied by progress in learn- ing to live in such a world. Our schools, as centers of learning, are dedicated to this task and to the future of our society. Accordingly, those responsible for education in the Woodburn Public Schools have adopted the following philo- sophy, in brief: We believe that it is the responsibility of the schools to assist the child in the following manner: 1. To become a contributing member in a democratic society through home, church, school and community. 2. To grow according to his capabilities. 3. To gain an understanding of responsibility to other peoples of the world. Keep this in mind as you view Woodburn High School via TV. Your editor, Joyce Yuranek
