Burnett whipped his team into shape in time to beat the Newberg team 6-0 to start the season off rightg this being a happy event, because in the previous years the Newberg boys had trounced the Bulldogs time and again. The Bulldogs, sparked by the ace performer, Al Superman Zuber, went on to be undefeated in league play, and only a tie with arch-enemy, Silverton, kept them from the district play-off. Zuber ended his high school football career by taking his third straight scoring honors. He was placed in the all-star selection two times. Lost by graduation this year will be seniors Kuns, Zuber, Mason, Seaton, Hall, and to Uncle Sam will go juniors Clark and Bigler, both top performers for the team this year. Battling to the last bell at all times, nevertheless the Bulldogs gave each and every team a good fight tor their money. The Bulldog rooters, although not used to seeing their team behind, came through at all times, to cheer them on. Returning this year were only two lettermen, Mason and Lippert, but by using Iuniors extensively Coach Burnett completed the team. With a heavy load on their shoulders, the up and coming B squad members will have to be the material with which to build a team next year. They displayed a lot of good basketball for the B squad this year and with luck and good coaching, they will make up for the record run up this season.
