SENIOR CLASS HISTORY ln the fall of '40, 74 Ereshmen timidly, but eagerly enrolled in Woodburn High School. With their helpful advisors, Miss Magee, Miss Bolton and Coach Pierson, they elected officers for the year: Leo Erwert, President, Walter Miller, Vice4President, Robert Austin, Sec- retary, Bruce Nelson, Board of Control Representative, and Ted Hanauska, Sergeant-at-Arms. The Seniors gave the Freshman class a reception after the class initiation and they became a part of the ideals of W.H.E. They ended their Freshman year with a Rook picnic. As Sophomores they chose Walter Miller, President, lim lensen, Vice-President, Edna Hermanson, Secretary, Aileen Waymire, Treasurer, Bruce Nelson, lnter-class Rivalry Chairman, and Harold Hamann, Sergeant-at-Arms. Their ad- visors for this year were Miss Durfee and Mr. Hayden. In 1943, the Iunior class officers were: Lloyd Kestell, Presi- dent, Walter Miller, Vice-President, loan Sargent, Secretary, Wilma Mcl-lolick, Treasurer, Ruth Edwards and Donald Peltz, Inter-class Bivaltry Chairmen, and Harold Hamann, Ser- geant-at-Arms. The advisors were Miss Dowell and Mr. Schaacl. The lunior year was high-lighted by the successful play, Meet The Duchess, class skate, class picnic and the lunior- Senior Prom. At last they are Seniors, with four years of hard work and fun behind them. The gavel was placed in the hands of lames lensen, who was assisted by Beatrice Beck, Vice-President, Edna Hermanson, Secretary, Alan Leary, Treasurer, loan Sargent and Bruce Nelson, Inter-class Rivalry Chairmen, and Sergeant-at-Arms, Byron Grim. Mrs. Guiss and Mr. Derry were the class advisors. The Senior class play, Professor, How Could You? was a top production. Other high-lights were, the Iunior-Senior Prom, and the Senior class picnic. Edna l-lermanson was chosen as May Queen. The commencement dress was royal blue caps and gowns and on the evening of May 25, they marched to receive their diplomas. The class was proud of the boys who left for the service. They were: Tom Engle, Don Peltz, Kenneth Hunt, Navy, Leo Erwert and Lloyd Kestell, Coast Guard, lohn Tuss, Marines, and Marvin Undseth, Laudie Adamskie, and Ed Murphy, in the Army.
