X A RECORD RUN N Ys sci 'W The day had arrived' No longer were we under studies we could now be called Actors We played freshmen m the first act of a new play entrtled Along Barron Avenue When the opening day finally came we felt lost rn the bug theatre which was to be our home for the next four years However our bewllderment and confuslon were somewhat alleviated by the presence of the newly organized Traffic Control system whrch showed us how easrly we could adjust ourselves After overcoming the first effects of stage fright we began to take a llvely Interest ln our small parts We attended many of the football and basketball games but alas' a great tragedy occurred the scenery of our sports department bowed to modern mans efforts to improve transportatlon arteries Nevertheless we were rntroduced to the bright lights which were strung across the gym for those un forgettable freshman dances We completed our fresh man year with a dance ln June thus endmg our mr tration 1n a big way After the first brlef mtermlssron lt was back to work agam Now we were playmg the more advanced role of sophomores That year the sports department was on the road for durmg the football season we borrowed the set Waters Stadlum from a nergh boring theatre and the scenery for the baseball games was shifted to Fords However new settings werent all the news the idea for '1 court sequence was or1g1nated but the routme was not Incorporated mto the productron untrl the thrrd act Now away from the scrrpt lets look at the players Lawrence Lucas played the leading role In this performance wlth Ann DAngelo as co star Mrs Norman was rn the wlngs to prompt our first class orgmlzatlon The show must go on lb tn old the itrrcal s nymg and our play conformed to tr idltlon The plot had progressed half way and had to be completed Bruce Van Ness took the lead rn thls act supported by Pat Burke Jean Zeher and Herb Zander and efficiently directed by Mrs Kuzma Smce we had a desire for Brg Business frult cakes were sold at Thanksgiving md Christmas and greetmg cards rn the sprmg And were we a financial success' Then the authors revised the scrlpt a but Career Day was lnstltuted as an and to our selection of blgger thlngs to come Finally the steady grind and constant pluggmg at rehearsals were mterrupted 1n June for new scenery for athletrc routines had arrived and was accepted wlth great ceremony Next came Movmg up Day when the former stars went on to better roles ln The Bug Time As we marched between the rows of seats we sang the hit of the show wrltten by our own Anna Rose Arway to the tune of Take Me Out to the Ball Game Wh1le the curtain dropped on our thlrd act we mu ed contentedly over the highlights of the year At last the fourth act commenced We were no longer the blt players we had been three ye trs rgo ne were playmg the leadmg roles' And what an excltmg day rt was when that dab of splerdo cla s rlngs graced our costumes Everyone made sure to keep all make up away from that one hand for quite 1 while Even the leads Jake Boelhouwer Ronnie Seaman Ann DAngelo and Bob Sabo dld a bit of fiauntmg while our competent director Miss van Slyke joined ln with her admlrttlon Before one could give h1s rmg to his steady Youth Week arrlved on schedule and Charles Santora was sworn m m tyor Hrs commltteemen were Jim Neary Dan Lat tmzlo Steve Balogh Ben Parsons Jake Boelhouwer md Al Lerthner Next came the Halloween Dance where seniors dressed at their best or worst to add an authentic chrll to the event About this time of the year the senior concession promoted the produc tion by selling refreshments ln the outer lobby of the stadium The project was 1 successful one and the cast had a great tlme running It with occasional prompting by the senior homeroom teachers A scene wrthm an act took place on November 30 December 1 and 'P when the class presented Iunror Mrss The crntrcs chalked thls up as a number one hxt Before the posters could be taken down the jngle of sleigh bells rang through the halls and a Chrrstmts party was held we all went home that night with a full share of hollday fun Chrrstmas had passed and the new year our year appeared on the road schedule Because of the favorable re ults of the preceding year Career Day was again pre sented and this time even the llttle understudles and blt players were permitted to participate After Old Man Winter took his curtaln call Sprmg bounded rn holdmg hands with St Prtrlck We were ready to do the Irlsh jrg at this gala affair Ah' but this was just a prelrmmary to the Nlght of Nrghts for on the evemng of May 26 vou guessed lt the Senior Prom was held Prior the wardrobe directors and script writers were busily plannmg their program and on that big mght soft music floated from the gym carrying the grrls rn swrrlmg gowns and the boys m tux to a happy evemng at the last dance of the year Before we knew lt Class Day went into produc tion We spent that day amid hllarrty thrnkmg that rt seemed like only yesterday that the blg doors of our dear Alma Mater were opened to us The last few performances found us journeyrng once again to have fun together as a cast destma tion Lake Hopatcong they found us scurrying through the aisles eagerly having our Baronets auto graphed they found us at Baccalaureate Services and then they found us playmg our one final scene Graduation This was a symbol of what we had been trying to achleve for four years This was our Grand Finale The curtam had descended and we took our final curtain call our four year run was over It was a smash hrt'
