Learn b doing produces skills for students in technical areas In Cleaning and Pressing, students are learning technical knowledge by doing the actual work. Training for good payingjobs in local plants encourages trainees to de- velop speed and efficiency. Each student is taught how to run machines involved in dry cleaning, pressing, and repairing cloth- ing. Students and teachers know when their clothes are cleaned, their belongings are in good hands. Repairing cars is an experience to boys enrolled in Auto Body. Equipped with the latest tools and supplies, the student-learn- ers spray paint, repair dented fenders, and overhaul the complete car body. Leather techniques are practiced on belts and other leather items as well as shoes in Shoe Repair classes. Service Station classes learn the cor- rect way to wash and polish the exterior and clean the interior of cars. Checking the mechanics under the hood to make sure that spark plugs are operating to ca- pacity and examining the fan belt to see that it is tight is a part of the regular train- ing. Horticulture pupils grow new plants Vocational Horticulture gives students an opportunity to learn about plants and their habitants. Two new greenhouses have been added for the growing and propagation of plants. Outside appearance of the building reflect the work that Horticulture students have done. New plants, shrubs, and new grass, have added to scenery. Classes have been added to provide Junior High with a Horticulture curric- ulum. Dental assistants learn to use X-Ray machines. Sterilizing and dental equip- ment is used to train future dental as- sistants. Business education offers addi- tional training in typing, bookkeeping and letter writing. UPPliRf Viviun Wicsiohm and Sue Turner study the forms used for Dental Assistants to study teeth.
