SENIOR CLASS HISTORY IFTY ONF bovs and girls entc red the Wlndftll High School in September l93F as freshmen As we had a few electix courses our first week was spent in getting our schfdules worked out You could almost point out the students who came from other schools because they always put a slr or mam after their ye and no answers Mr Scott our algebra teacher alwavs thought we said no sir too many times when he asked us if we knew how to get a problem In our first class meeting which proceeded like anything but a class meeting we elected the following officers Mr Eastman sponsor Harold Coffin president Carmen Reid vice president and Jaunita Fngleman secretary treasurer The seniors lnltlated us and the new teachers to such an extent that we begin to think that being a freshman was not all sunshine and roses We got the class together at least two times that year as we had a wlener roast and a theater party The vear 1937 38 began with most of us enrolling as sophomores We felt as lf we were a little better off this year as we didn t have to put up with the seniors at the 1n1t1a tion Some of us took Latin this year There IS nothing on earth wrong with the sub Ject but the two who went to the Latin Contest at Tipton were not interested enough in the subject to get any place in the contest To prove thls neither one took Latin the next year Say what is this a confession? We elected Mr Scott as our sponsor this year in a more orderly class meeting Our other officers were Iva Stexeson president Carmen Reid and Juanita Engleman re elected vice-president and secretary-treasurer respectively. Our president selected a Welfare Committee of three members which were Mary Elizabeth Leachman Gladys Clem and Harold Coflin, As a Student Council was or- ganized our class elected Iva Steveson as our representative. The most exciting event was our Wild West Show at the Hallowe en Festival. It was a campfire scene with Don Smith strumming the guitar rwe just had onei a group of girls singing and Carmen Reid whistling. As a side attraction we gave a little play re-enacting the life of a wild and wooly western town. Some of the boys wore their knees fiat acting as horses. After a long and arduous struggle we took second prize. A N E M O N E Nineteen Forty Huw, '- A I 5 ' L x I ' 1 ' ' Y ly ii . ' 'e . , . , ' , ' ' , u 'i 11 ni 11 - cn , an n n y L 1 1 1 1 .
