To the Class of 1953: The past twelve years you have spent in school should have prepared you for facing the problems you will encounter in adult life. Many of the decisions and choices you will need to make will be vital to your own individual peace and security, as well as to that of socie- ty in general. These decisions and choices can be made most ably if you have learned to reserve your opinions until you have investigated and weighed all the issues involved, to the point where your judgments will be made honestly and fairly-in terms of what is best for the total group. 1 1Qr l 4. r U an o This year, the theme of our yearbook is time, In the office of our school an event occurred, this year, which symbolized the fast pace of time. The replacement of the antique clock by our electronic time system marked the occasion. As we look at these two clocks, we realize that time has advanced at a very rapid pace, and, as time has advanced, a considerable number of changes have taken place. Even our standards of ac- quiring knowledge have changed considerably. Only one occasion in our lives remains unchanged and that is the tumult of a confused world. We hope with the newly inaugurated President, the pendulum will once more swing towards a more peaceful world. After we the Class of '53 look back with pleasure on our past memories at Womelsdorf High School, our home for twelve years, we will look forward with vigor in our eyes for fulfilling our wishes of a more Peace- ul World. J EEHE QIQQSUEVEQEDN 'l'hc Class of 1953 wishes to dedicate the VVeicon to you, Mr. Leader, who led us up the last two rungs of the ladder of our school life. For these two pleasant years filled with advice and much encouragement, we heartily thank you. Mr. Leader graduated from Mt. Penn High School in 1948. VVhilc attending the school he was a member of the orches- tra, concert band and chorus. While participating in these, he also was active in county, district, and state bands. He was vice-president of the chorus and president of the Mt. Penn Band. Furthering his education in the musical Held he entered West Chester College. There, as in high school he was very alert and active. Ile was a member of the college chorus, glee Club, marching band, woodwind quartet and the symphony or- chestra. Before completing his course he spent five months of student teaching at Marpel Newton High School in Phila- delphia. As he received his diploma and B.S. degree he heaved a sigh of accomplislnnent-but much to his surprise, that accomplishment he gained in four years could not half equal all he has accomplished at VVomelsdorf High School. Mr. Leader entered our Faculty as a new member of the teaching profession-with new ideas. Immediately, he began work on the school band! Since then, we have heard Mr. Leader say, The VVomclsdorf School is overflowing with mu- sical talent -talent which he has developed! He also organized our Dance Band and is now earnestly working on the Student Council. ' 'l'o you, Mr. Leader, your clarinet and your stamina, we' extend a happy and inclodious teaching career. X
