CLASS HISTORY Our class began its climb up the ladder as a class of twenty-six in 1938. In the years that followed, many have joined us but many others have left. Annually our class participated in the Hallowe'en parades, and in our eighth year we had a Halloween party of our own. In ninth grade our class increased in size because of students from Rehrers- burg, Host, and Bethany joined us. During that year, our only activity was a Christmas party. But as we entered our tenth year, the class decided it was time to raise more funds to enlarge the treasury. To do this we sold Christmas seals and emblems sporting the high school name. One of our activities in our Sophomore year was a hayride. Our class officers that year were: President, Robert Bloss, Vice President, Phyllis Strauseg Secretary, Robert Shartleg Treasurer, Sara Eiler. As we became Iuniors our activities began in full swing. The first thing we did was to organize a Blanket Club. Our Iunior Class Play was a riotous mystery- eomedy called Hobgoblin House. Our first dance was held in Ianuary and was called The Winter Whirlf' Our most important dance was the Iunior Prom. At this dance, our Prom Queen, Esther Mae Cable, was crowned by last year's queen, Betty Hess. Our class officers that year were: President, Peter Crimes, Vice President, Richard Cerhart, Secretary, Ioanne Matthew, Treasurer, YVilliam Crimes. And now we have at last reached the goal which we have been striving for. XVe are at last Seniors. As we reach the top of the ladder we realize that our work and the hard struggle have all been compensated by a lot of fun and pleasure. Among our many pleasant activities, a hayride is foremost. We had two dances, one in October called 'fThe VVitches Frolic at which a prize was given to anyone who could guess the Mystery Man. Our second dance was entitled 'lThe Snow Ball. The class play was a hilarious three-act comedy called Everybody's Getting Married. YVe know that our class ofhcers have always done their best to make these years a success, and we would like to express our deep appreciation for their efforts. Our class officers during this Senior year are: President, Donald Denglerg Vice President, Robert Shartle, Secretary, Ioanne Matthew, Treasurer, William Crimes. Our class colors are pale green and white, and our class flower is the white rose. The class motto, which we know will help us in our future years, is The Road Called Toil Leads to the City Called Success. VVe wish to express our sincere thanks to the faculty, pupils, townsfolk, and parents who patronized all our class ever undertook to do. Our thanks also goes out to our Senior Class adviser, Mrs. Coppola, and to Mr. Gibson for helping us in the making of this yearbook.
