Y ! 5' The Lion enior Cfdffff .MA f0l g X In I93I, thirty-six members of the Class of '43 started their quest for knowledge under the supervision of Miss Snyder. After six years of clear sailing we struggled through seventh and eighth grades only to have the traditional Freshman green pinned on us. The Upperclassmen soon learned to realize that we were not as green as they thought us to be, for under the direction of Miss Edna Mae Stauffer we produced an assembly program which met with the ap- proval of the entire audience. Surely no one who was privileged enough to see that program will ever forget the Freshman Follies of I94O,, as they passed on review, along with many other talented numbers which made up the remainder of the program. Our Sophomore year passed swiftly, and before long we entered our Junior year. We immediately started to get ideas for making money. Our ideas which materialized into a Blanket Club and a Nickelodeon dance, were quite successful and our treasury began to swell. . In this, our final year, thirty-three pupils with a wide variety of talent, all congregated for the drive to the goal. This number was re- duced to thirty-two as one of our members, namely Wayne Wright- stone, was transferred to Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute, where he is learning to be a machinist. Our activities consisted of four dances, a Weiner roast, the sale of doughnuts and che sale of turkey chances. Every member of our class has participated in some school activities under the leadership of the following officers: President ...... CLIFFORD SHERMAN Vice-President . . ROBERT GRIMES Secretary . . . CORA GEDDES Treasurer ....... JOSEPH MILLER Our class officers and pupils did their best to make each activity a success. We wish to express our appreciation to all the teachers, pupils, parents, and townsfolk who have kindly aided us in making our school activities successful. To you, dear Alma Mater, we, the Class of ,43, in all earnestness hope and pray that success and good fortune will crown your every effort. May you always remember and profit by our motto, No Palm of Victory without the Dust of Contest. MELVIN HOOVER, Class Historian 22
