Class H1story ln the year of 1947 we started our Journey through hlgh school To us thas was a big year and we were all afraid of our upperclassmen At our first class meeting we plcked to lead us ln the form of President James Kelser To help hmm as Vice Presldent Marjorxe DeMoss Joyce Jarrett was asked to keep records of what our class dad Dons Wagner was called upon to keep our money problems straxght as our Treasurer We chose a boy and a gxrl to represent our class in the Student Councxl They were Wayne S1gman and Waneta Dillon Mary Altman as our Class Reporter was to keep the newspapers informed of our domgs As we spent all our tlme 1n school studylng we wanted some time to v1s1t so we decided to have a couple of class partxes one ln the fall and one ln the sprmg The first semester we enjoyed so much that we agaxn went to a show the next semester This time we went to Lafayette Indiana and saw Sitting Pretty All the way down and comlng home xt ramed but we didn t mind gettlng a little wet As we were coming home we stopped at a little place for a bite to eat compliments of our sponsor Miss Dlbell Wxth Mass Dzbell to guide us we made nt through our hrst year at hugh We pand Sl 00 8 Semester for class dues We all enjoyed our summer vacation but as hfe must go on so must educatxon beszdes we missed our classmates and wanted to catch up on the latest boy frxends Thxs was 1948 and so l1ke last year we had to have class ofhcers Our new President was now Wayne Knockel wnth James Kexser as his ard for Vxce Pres1dent Our Secretary this year was to be Carol Glllen with Grace Mathew as Treasurer Student Council members were Bxllxe Morrxs who left us so James Pomdexter took over to help Margaret Wagner In this year we lost five classmates but were repaxd wxth four new ones to get acquamted with Those we lost Bxlhe Morrzs Joan Alkmre, Joan Bell Harold Marglson, and Johnny Sanford The new arrivals Rita Kupke, James Mills James Polndexter, and Wayne Lehman l4 l' 8 ' e- e ' en e n ' X' l' ' s I' E l' 's v X' I ' - re ' I , . . . . . , . . . . , . . . , ' . - . ln September we sent for our class sweaters wh1ch arrwed December of 1948 They were gray w1th red letters trimmed m wh1te, very pretty, we thought We were very proud of them and wore them as often as posslble lt was also ln th1s year that we ordered our class rmgs but we had to walt untxl we were Juniors to receive them The f1rst semester we were so busy wxth school that we had no t1me for a class party We made up for It though by havmg a specxal one 1n Aprxl We rented the Ideal Beach Skatmg Rink and had three hllarlous hours of fun Then we arrwed for our Jumor year whxch we knew would be an excltmg one Wethought we couldn t wa1t to get our class rmgs and we knew the Jun1or Play would be a lot of fun But to start the year out right there is one thmg you must always do and that IS elect class off1 cers Our Pres1dent was James Kexser, V1ce Pres1dent Elzzabeth Kendall with Marietta Beaver as Secretary and Grace Mathew as Treasurer Student Councll members were James Mzlls and Dons Wagner Class Reporter was Francxs Vogel Class dues for thls eventful year were to be Sl 00 a semester We were joyful to learn that Miss Dxbell would again be our sponsor Thzs year Elsle Hendershot wxthdrew from our class also Carol Cullen Thxs year we were lucky and got to sell popcorn to earn money for our Semor year For our class play we chose a three act comedy of youth called Llfe Begms at Sixteen Thxs was gzven on October Zlst and 22nd The annual school carmval agaxn provided a busy mght for all of us The class also presented a Thanksglvmg Day program to the assembly One of our members was chosen to be Pupils Representatwe at the Student State Assembly at Purdue December2 1949 The date for the Jumor Semor Receptxon was set for Aprxl 28th We all got our heads square dancing afterwards ln honor of the occaslon Jumor and Semor classes were let out of school one half hour early We were all for anything to make money for when we were Semors so we next started a magazme sale, we also sold school clothmg By thls time the end of the year was here and we had to decorate for Commencement We were quite willing as xt was a lot of fun and we knew we would be the honored ones the next year All ln all we had a very mce year Summer vacation IS again over and once agam we all came back but thls txme no one minded as we were now mlghty Sen1ors The year ahead looked very promzszng what with a good bank roll and plenty of thxngs to do The class officers for th1s very Important year were to be Grace Mathew to rule as Presldent we were very happy wxth a girl Presrdent Vzce President Rxchard Deardorff agam thxs year our Secretary was Marxetta Beaver Treasurer was Doris Wagner Marzlyn Stortz Joined us thas year so we have her as Class Reporter and Concession Chairman Wayne Sxgman Student Council members were James Kexser and Margaret Wagner This year, we started somethmg new the Semors were to have full respon slbxhty for the Concesslons Class dues would stxll be Sl 00 a semester Almost the flrst business we did was to elect our Annual Staff James Kexser would be Edltor ln Chief Waneta Dillon Assoc1ate Editor Francms Vogel Busmess Manager James Pomdexter Sports Editor Elizabeth Kendall Snapshot Editor We were sure they would do a good job 15 together and decided to do something different.
