They had a little better competition this year than they have had in the past. The team had its good nights, but it also had some bad ones. They seemed to be able to play at least one good half in each game, but it was the other half that caused them the trouble. The coach got them on the right track in their first game in the Kankakee Valley Tournament. They won the first game from Tefft by a fair margin, but in the last half of the game with Wheatfield they faded out, losing by 17 points.. And now we take a humble bow to our parents, bless each soul, For they are the ones who helped us most in striving to reach our goal Now on with the poem, of our class we are proud, Soon we'll be few, mingled in with the crowd: But often we'1l relax, as the years go by, ln the memory of those days back in old Wolcott I-ligh. Earl Ariliker, the handsome brute, Thinks that Lizzy is really cute. And we know as an athlete he's really fit, Not only to Lizzy, but in the game a hit. Our political aspirant is Robert Bollier, He plans to be President within a year. He'll go to the White House his duties assumin', And then he 'll marry that singin' Miss Truman. The Cain twins, we know, can't keep out of trouble. They cause our dear coach gray hairs just double. And we hope in the future, those Sophies remain ture, 'Cause just look at the expense of those weekly rendevous. Mary Brown with her classy chassis, Hopes in the world of models to shine: But johnny, the farmer, aims to charm her Into being his faithful wife sublime. Claudine Fields fincidentally a Bobby fanl ls going all out to get herself a man' And on the side a commercial course she's taking, So we think she'll do quite well, either in typing or in baking. joe Emond, our classmate, always looks dreamy, For he can't help but dream of Jeannie: And someday they'll marry and live in wedded blissg And along'll come two joe's with never a miss. Lynetta Furrer, our scholastic pal, Is jolly and merry, she's quite a gal! She doesn't tell us what the future will holdg But we wonder if she's thinking of a Romeo, bold? Margaret Gilbert, we can't get the twist of her. And we do think some day she'll be Mrs. Don Christopher. But to us she claims a secretary to be: We wonder? Has she been practicing on M. Ray's knee? 36 Bobby Haskins. that handsome cradle snatcher, Might fool the gals and just become a bachelor, And even go to Hollywood, Van johnson's place to take, And there l'll bet a girl he'll choose, might be Veronica Lake Doris Hoppe, so jolly and swell, Likes to tell the teachers to go to ---- Their desks and sit down and smile, And let the kids whisper once in a whilef Kenneth Mathew, a future west-end farmer, Might someday grow up to be quite a charmerg And even someday he could win acclaim, The greatest day-dreamer ---his bust in the Hall of Fame. Marian Mathew, that charming lass, Is pert and gay and really has class. As a waitress at Woody's she's quite a sensationp We hear she is running for Queen of the Nation I Martha Mathew, so sweet and shy, Hopes to be secretary to a handsome guy. She'l1 catch this guy with little resistance, And they'll raise their kids for office assistance. August McCollum, so smart and big headed, When Mama's around, is always petted. But someday he'll be married to Brownie, his lover, And then we'1l see who stays under cover! Janice Rector, so short and spry, Says, Keep your hands off Augie, he's my guy. But she'll find out as the years go by, That Augie McCollum sure can lie! johnny Sell, our Hollywood news reporter, Is always saying things just when he shoul.dn't oughter. And if to Mary he should propose, We do foretell poor johnny's woes. Theresa Slaski, a Navy Wife to be, Will keep the homefires burning while her sailor is at sea. And if she should get lonesome while Richie is on water, She'll just have to wait to have that little daughter. The athletic Miss Norma Stoller, Is really the one champion bowler. She will always be out and on the ball, Until with Glenn she makes that fateful fall. Larry Victor, that A guy for English, His love for Pat, I doubt he would relinquish. And when they have a quarrel, and their love is on the mend, He always admits that Pat was the Victor in the end! 37 Geneva Winger, for boys she has no passion, We hear she'1l be a leader in the world of modern fashion. She will journey to Paris, a dress designer to be, And her dresses will be known as a Winger Specialty. Our most pleasant lad--joe Walters, Swings happily along and never falters. With his crew-haircut, so terrifically neat, Mary can't help but like him, she thinks he's sweet! Harvey Woods we cannot decide. Who he may choose to be his bride. But there's one thing sure, and I'm not kidding, There's quite a few in there bidding! Felix Reeves--our sponsor so dear, For his patience and courage we stand up and cheer. We're sure gonna miss that good-hearted guy. And hope he remembers us as the years go by. S., County of White, State of Indiana, United States of America, the fifteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fifty. This instrument was on the date thereon signed, published, and declared by the said testator, Class of SO , to be its first will and testament, in the presence of us who, at its request, have subscribed our names thereto as witnesses, in presence, of each other. Witnesses A Margaret Gilbert Doris Hoppe laniece Rector 40 Class History The Freshman Class of 1946 entered school with great enthusiasm for the years ahead. Each of its thirty-four members did his utmost to co-operate for the good of the class. Our officers for the year were Bob Haskins, Presidentg Marian Mathew, Vice- President: Janice Rector, Secretary: and Claudine Fields. Treasurer. Student Council members were Bob Haskins and Martha Mathew. Our sponsor was Mr. Bernard Horn. This is when he became concerned with financial problems until he has now become school treasurer. Poor, Mr. Horn! Our first class party was held in the school building. The main attraction of the evening was the pot-luck supper at 6:30 P. M. The following March we decided there were hopes that some day we would be Seniors, so we ordered our class sweaters. Our class still believing in St. Valentine and cupid, celebrated February 15 by buying out the town's supply of valentines for our last party of the year. To the sorrow and misfortune of our class, Leon Brown and Bob Dahlenburg withdrew during the first semester. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, so the September school bell brought us back together again for our Sophomore year. The time again arrived for the election of officers. We chose Kenneth Mathew, President: Bob Bollier, Vice- President: Marian Mathew, Secretaryg Margaret Gilbert, Treasurer: Claudine Fields and Larry Victor, Student Council. Mrs. Dykins was our sponsor. Two more of our classmates failed to answer the roll call in September. They were Lloyd Hendershot and Heleh Heath. The Annual School Carnival originated in our Sophomore year. We presented our version of a hillbilly mock wedding, consisting of an all star cast. In February we were selecting our class rings with the assurance that graduation was not far off. Still thinking we were young and having plenty of energy, we undertook to schedule a skating party at Fowler. Our one disappointment of the evening was the fact that we could not get our sponsor, Mrs. Dykins, on skates. We again assembled in September of 1948 to embark on our Junior year at Wolcott High School. With Mr. Reeves as our new sponsor, we elected officers for the coming year. Bob Bollier took office as President, john Sell as Vice-President Marian Mathew as Secretary, and Margaret Gilbert as Treasurer. Janice Rector and joe Walters served as Student Council Members. 41 r As the school activities occurred, we noticed, to our sorrow. that three more of our classmates had failed to return. They were joan Watson, Kenneth Swartz. and Robert Provo. We were beginning to wonder if there would be any class of SO left when that final day in May would come. On October 14 and 15 we presented our junior Play, Papa Says No! As we hope you all recall it was a great success. At least we thought so. After all what did you expect from beginners. Before we knew it the Junior-Senior Prom arrived and we again found our- selves knee-deep in planning and working. We chose the Three R's. Rhythm, Rumba and Romance, as our theme, During our junior year three more withdrew. They were LeRoy Christopher. Donald Fleenor, and Richard Stoller. It was in September of 1949 when we realized that at last we were fullfledged Seniors. During the summer we met at the home of Bob Bollier for a class party. Officers for the caming year were selected as follows: Bob Bollier. Presidentg john Sell, Vice-Presidentg Marian Mathew, Secretaryg and Margaret Gilbert, Treasurer. Janice Rector and joe Walters were selected for Student Council Members. Following the meeting we all enjoyed the delicious refreshments. After 10:30 P. M. we have no account of our classmates until the beginning of school in September, but we firmly trust they behaved themselves. At this time we were quite proud of ourselves. for we had gained a new classmate, Theresa Slaski. At last it seemed we were making progress. just think twenty-three bright and charming Seniors. Since we knew our school days were drawing to a close, we appointed an Annual Staff with Doris Hoppe as Editor-In-Chief. Mr. Ralph of Ralph's Studios came on October 19 to take our senior pictures. We also scheduled him to take all group pictures for the annual. On December 7, we assembled to choose our caps and gowns. We finally picked royal blue with yellow tassels on the caps. To the Senior Class of 1950, these four years of high school have created memories that will not soon be forgotten. Most of all we will remember those last few weeks of school with Baccalaureate and Commencement. We leave with the foundation laid for what the future may hold. x 'A an fi? :p witswonm Lilll A had und eg: p L Bo 57 IALSIDITH BROTHERS luulins. lim. U.
