enior ro phecy New York City New York MUY lO 1970 Dear Ellamae I have just amved home from my tnp around the country looking up my old classmates of 1955 Slnce you are out rn the wrlds of Borneo as a missionary to the head hunters there I thought you might like to know what has happened to the seniors of '55 I started out from my home tn New York and went strarght to Wolbach where I thought I mrght be able to frnd most of my old classmates As I drove through Maru Street I saw a srgn on one of the wmdows which said Wolbach Cafe Best Meals in the World Served Here I was feeling slightly hungry so I went rn Who dld I see behlnd the counter but my old classmate, Erme Hood all wrapped up rn an apron and serving hamburger to the customers I was surprrsed to see h1m but I was really bowled over when he told me who was cook It was Beverly Bother It seems that Emle and Beverly decided to set up a business of their own and since they were both good cooks a restaurant seemed best While I was eating my dimer the floor show came on fBev and Ernie have declded to really shock the town I Can you guess who was the star of the show? None other than Donetta Wagner She sang and danced to several popular tunes like 'Jump In Your Lrttle Airplane and L.et's Go For a Spin I decided to take a llttle drrve around Wolbach just to see my old home town agarn Whenl came to the bank I remembered that I was a lrttle short of change so I thought I would go rn and get a small check for one thousand dollars cashed I thought the cashrer seemed farmlrar butl couldn' t qurte place h1m Suddenly 1n a flash it came to me It was .hm Marco After chattmg for a whrle Jrm rnvlted me over for dmner at hrs house that evemng Naturally I accepted were former classmates Bonnie Ryan and her husband Rrchard Caudill and Margle Steenson and her husband Al Dubas It seems that Bonnre and Margie had bought a dude ranch before they were marned and they are now runnrng 1t It attracts all wealthy millronarres and b1ll1ona1res Iso I must v1s1t it sometrme I At least that's what Al and Rrchard told me After dinner our host suggested that we lrsten to some records by Gerard Noonan I was rather bewildered so I asked about h1m I was told that Gerard was a rrsrng srnging star and had al really made gurte a few records I wondered why I had never heard of h1m before but I realized why when I was told that he goes by the name of 'Crooner Noonan I-hs trademark rnstead of a bow tie is bnght flashy socks When I mqurred about her I was told that Betty Kolar was operatmg a gold mine in Colorado so I immedrately set off the next day 1n search of her I frnally found her w1th a prck and shovel earnestly d1gg1ng for gold She said 1t was a very profrtable busmess but that a good share of the profits went for lrmment and rubbrng alcohol Leavlng the Kolar Gold Mlnes I went 1nto Wyoming whrch I had always wanted to see How ever, I went at the wrong txme or perhaps rt was the rrght t1me for I got caught rn a snow storm I made my way to a ranch house, and what do you know the owner was none other than Llnda Moms Lmda was glad to see me and maybe YOU think I W0Sf1'i 9105 to S96 hef ' She S015 that 40 I I . she had taught school for f1ve years after graduating, cmd then longing tor adventure decrded to go west She bought a ranch and runs rt all by herself except for one hired man Imaqme to my surprise when she told me who her hired man was Ronme Prokesh I wanted to see Ronnre but she said he had been herding the sheep and now w1th this snow storm he would probably be on the range for the rest of the week When the storm died down a little I started my journey once more Thrs time I sent to Cali fomia I had always wanted to see a movie set, so I proceeded to visrt one However I was prac- tically scared out of my wits when a very loud voice yelled Cut ' right in my ear I wondered rf they were planning on cuttrng ME so I quickly looked around for a place to hide Just then I heard the same voice call my name rn a surprrsed tone It was Helen Brandt' It seems that she rs a fam ous movie director now and was merely yelling some drrections to the camera men I had lunch with Helen and she told me Marianne Cook was UCIVEIIIIQ on a concert tour and was scheduled to play there that night She invited me to attend with her When we reached the concert hall I was surpnsed to hear so many people ta1k1ng about Mar ianne s playing Idecrded that I really was behmd trmes for I d1d not know Marianne was that famous After the concert I made my way backstage to see Cookre as we had called her rn school Just as I was about to enter her room a polrceman grabbed me and wanted to know what I wastry ing to do I tried to explain that I was an old frlend of hers but he wouldn't belreve me .lust as he was ready to throw me out the door Cookre came to my rescue Boy what a person has to go through to see an old frxend Marianne and I went to her apartment and spent hours talkrng about old times The next day I made reservatrons to fly to Russra The last anyone had heard Brll Sanner J er ry Klllmger and Lyle Caudrll were In Vladrvostok so that was where I decrded to stop frrst When I f1rst reached there I started callrng all the hotels to see whether they were registered I was rn Thlsl done for a week but dec1ded that they kept too late hours for me so I retumed to Amerrca Upon cnrrvrng at Wolbach agarn my next stop was out at the Wrbbels Homestead Just as I got out of my car I saw a woman comrng out of the house to greet me It was Juanrta Wrbbels former ly Webb After her came toddling two 11ttle boys I visrted wrth her awhrle and departed for New York I clrmbed into my car and zoomed along at about 80 mrles and hour anyway that's what the speedometer last regrstered when that reckless truck drrver ran 1nto me I woke up rn a whrte hosprtal bed The doctor was takrng my pulse I flnally got up enough courage to ask whether I'd l1ve or not 'Yes unfortunately you wrll said the doctor Where had I heard that voice before?
