WOBURN SENIOR HIGH 8CHOOI. WOBl ' RN. MA» ACKUItKTT 01 01 ntCPMONt 033-0000 »AUL . OWCCNCT m-rui WinCim YEARBOOK MESSAGE To Members of the Class of 1979s It is one of the traditions at graduation time for public speakers to extend advice, as elders, to those who are about to embark on careers or further education. And it is one of the privileges of those about to graduate to forget the admonitions so easily given. On the eve of graduation in June, 1979, it is a time to develop plans for your future, for this class, as adults, will have significant impact in the twenty-first century, now only slightly more than two decades away. There has been a characteristic of this class, however, that deserves commendation; it has been its social concern for its fellow humans as expressed in its activities and career aims. It is this recognition that the future of each is inextricably inter¬ woven with the future of mankind. For as was written long ago by the great metaphysical poet John Donnes No man is an Island, entire of itself; everyman is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main... I am involved in Mankind. And therefore never seek to know for whom the bells toll; it toils for thee. May your success in school be a happy portent to a future complete with good will toward man. Henry D. Blake Principal 21

DR. CHARLES W. LAMONTAGNE — Superintendent To the Graduates of the Class of 1979 The Class of 1979 rings out the decade of the Soaring Seventies . When a decade ends somehow the feeling that the decade gone is not to be lamented, but rather the new time ahead is to be filled with hope. Such may be the destiny for the Class of 1979 . In today ' s world there are many avenues beckoning to the futurej an important one is learning. Surely, you will continue to learn and to discover new ways to solve old and new problems of daily life. Learning and a growing intellect are life long endeavors beginning at infancy. Fyodor Dostoyevsky, in his book, The Brothers Karamazov, said of learningi People always talk to you a great deal about your education, but some good sacred memory, preserved from childhood, is perhaps the best education....for that one memory may keep us from great evil or bring us to great heights....Let us be, first and above all, kind, then honest, and then let us never forget each other. : I am confident you have preserved that good sacred memory to stand you in good stead when you have to make that right decision. S ' Congratulations and best of luck to each of you of the ClflRR of 7Q . . BERTHA BANE — Assistant Superintendent PAUL J. ANDREWS — Assistant Superintendent J Dr. Lamontagne Congratulates Seniors c 9 -
