HENRY D. BLAKE Principal Principal’s Message To Members of the Class of 1976 As members of the Class of 1 976 of the Woburn Senior High School, you are graduating in the year of the Bicentennial observance of the establishment of our country as a free and independent nation. It is fitting then that we reflect briefly on the contribution that our schools have made to our cherished freedom. It is in our schools that America has put its faith. Free public education, uncluttered by applications, exclusions, machinations or fees, where the doors stand open for everyone has provided an enlightened citizenry. From chaos and wide geographical diversity our schools have created national unity. Our schools have fostered the Americanization of the millions of immigrants who have sought the Promised Land in each dec¬ ade from 1 840 — an unparalleled movement in history. Our schools have provided the same educational processes and discipline to all. It never succumbed to the evil forces and meretricious appeal of Fascism or Communism. May the ‘‘Spirit of 76” engendered in the early days of the republic be renewed on the Eve of our Bicentennial by the spirit of the members of the Class of 1976, who have had the advan¬ tages of free public education in our community. Henry D. Blake L JAMES F. BRENNAN Vice-Principal PAUL K. SWEENEY Vice-Principal 21

DOCTOR CHARLES LAMONTAGNE Superintendent of Schools Superintendent’s Message To the Graduates of the Class of 1976 During your years of public school life, you have had opportunity to share in many experiences — in the classroom, school activities, sports, clubs, music, drama and many others. All these memorable events, along with the help, interest, and encouragement of your parents and your church have aided in the development of your individual potential. The challenge of the future in our democratic society always will demand the fullest effort of each of us as citizens, so that we may preserve those fun¬ damental values which make us a country of great spirit, and to effect those changes which make us a nation of understanding and leadership. Good luck and best wishes to each of you. Sincerely, Charles W. Lamontagne Superintendent of Schools JEROME T. LYNCH BERTHA BANE Deputy Superintendent Superintendent of Elementary Education EDWARD MARASHIO Assistant to Superintendent 20
