To the members of the Class of 1971: As you reach the end of your career in secondary educa¬ tion, you are entering a new stage in the world of ideas. During the sixties, a period during which you devoted your days to preparation, we have seen a time where commitment, relevance, and involvement became basic to the campus. Larger and more talented classes were challenging the struc¬ ture of education at every level. The transition from earlier times was almost abrupt. The new decade opened with tremendous continuing changes in the social, cultural, and intellectual life of our soci¬ ety, and herein lies the challenge to all who will see the seven¬ ties develop as young adults. With you there is ample opportunity to show the spirit of idealism, and to generate an optimistic view of human poten¬ tial that will countervail the despair and resignatio n that per¬ vades society in nineteen-seventy-one. May the enthusiasm of your youth culminate in responsible personal goals in life and that we may achieve in our time and for all the time the ancient vision of peace on earth, good will toward men.” JAMES F. BRENNAN Assistant Principal PAUL K. SWEENEY Assistant Principal HENRY D. BLAKE Principal
