Housemasters (left to right) — Mr. Curran, Juniors, Mr. Foley, Freshmen, Mr. Murphy, Seniors, Mr. Varoutsous, Sophomores House Plan Adopted Woburn Senior High School’s class of 1970 was the first to see the House Plan in ef¬ fect. Housemasters were elected to the four classes in the Senior High and ultimately be¬ came advisors, disciplinarians, and social directors in addition to their duties as teach¬ ers.The plan brought about a much closer rapport between students and administrators and many heretofore problematic decisions were resolved with relative ease. Because of the competency of Paul Murphy, Joseph Curran, Peter Varoutsos, and James Foley, The House Plan is here to stay. Mr. Foley assists the Track Meet. To the graduating class of 1970: The beginning of a new decade renews the perennial hopes for peace and happiness that rest in the hearts of mankind. Only ten years ago, we looked forward with keen antici¬ pation to the ’Golden Sixties.” Looking back, we see in despair, the events that not even the wisest of prophets could predict — the impressions of disorder, the conflicts of environment and race, and overall the strain of the war in Vietnam. Yet as we look ahead we have hope, for now as a people we are critically examining our goals and our lives, often at the urging of the youth in our society. Never before have we so honestly examined the problems of ecology. A people who solved the incredible feat of reaching and exploring the moon in the sixties, surely should be able to solve the gradual deterioration of our environment on this planet in the seventies. Our hopes lie with you, for you will be the people who will fashion for good or evil, the opportunities that are available as we enter this decade. May the close of the decade of the seventies demonstrate that you have confounded the present prophets of pessi¬ mism. Two areas which are vital to the efficient functioning of the school are the office communications center and the Health suite. Office duties include arranging appointments, compil¬ ing The Reflector and disseminating information through¬ out the school.
