SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE A Message to the Class of 1960: Your Superintendent congratulates each of you on completion of your high school education. When you registered for the tenth grade in Sep¬ tember 1057 your graduation may have seemed to be in the distant future, but now it is here and the past three years have passed so quickly that you haven’t had much time to really think of the future. In later life when you recall these three years at Woburn High School you will agree that they were the happiest days that you ever exper¬ ienced. Education in a democracy, however, must not stop with graduation. The acquiring of a diploma is not the end; it is just the beginning. It tells all man¬ kind, and especially those people who are interested in your welfare, that you now have the preliminary background and skills to proceed to higher education, or to have a try at solving the many problems in¬ volved in employment. Inclosing this brief message I want you to know that, although I have not had the opportunity to know each of you personally, you do have a special friend in the School Department Office. Your future success in college, business, or in the professions is one of my sincerest wishes. Please do not hesitate to call upon me if I can assist you in any way. Dr. J.
