Then, suddenly, we are aw are that our carefree days are over and that we will soon be on our own. When this realization dawns, we recognize the importance of our learning and the oppor¬ tunities offered us over the past twelve years. These years, however, have not been devoted en¬ tirely to studying. We have had fun. Sports events, dances, senior play, and other activities have provided many hours of enjoyment that will always be remem¬ bered by the graduates. We, the staff of the 1956 Innitou, have undertaken to portray your life at Woburn High School in an effort to keep alive these memories in the years to come. - k m containing . . . Gilt There are many to whom we are deeply indebted for guidance and encouragement during the past three years. Our parents, of course, come first on the list; but teachers, advisers, and religious leaders all follow closely. Among those to whom we owe such gratitude is one who has shown active interest in our every endeavor. The epitome of earnest sincerity, energetic application, and enduring patience, she is a truly efficient secretary. We, the Class of 1956, with great admiration and ap¬ preciation proudly dedicate our yearbook to our office sec¬ retary, Mrs. Helen M. J 3 e m THE CHALLENGE The day draws to a close, so calm and still, As weary travelers, such as we, watch the sinking sun And dream the dreams that the morrow will fulfill, Remembering the past and the plans begun. Along the well worn trail weāve journeyed a part, āTis the end of but one happy, blissful day And deep within the temple of each heart, Its memories of peace and joy will stay. When radiant morning dawns with splendored rays To give renaissance as its envied prize, We travelers then go our separate ways ā The beckoning future now before us lies. If we keep constant hope within our souls, And daily greater faith in God we gain, Our enriched lives will yield more noble goals And the courage to grasp what He will ordain. āNancy Wheaton 45 CLASS WILL We, the Class of 1956, being of sound mind and body, and realizing that our school days are about ended, do bequeath to the underclassmen the following: Dennie Kilbride bequeathes the hock¬ ey nets to Tommy Martin. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council consisting of a repre¬ sentative from each homeroom and organization is always active. Through this group the stu¬ dents have a voice in school affairs. Many in¬ teresting assemblies and social affairs are fos¬ tered by the council from dues paid by the student body. The annual dance, held in November un¬ der the direction of Mr. OāDonnell and Mr. Henchey, our advisers, was a social and financial success. First Row: L. Robinson, P. Braude, M. Ross (Sec.), N. Composed of boys from the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades, the Club has made many contributions to both school and com¬ munity. This club aims to develop leadership among youth and to foster justice, liberty, and democracy. Its motto is āWe Buildā e u Cl lu b These members feel pleased with the Clubās gift to the school. 57 a n n e r c w 3 First Row: J. Rafter, M. Hoyt, J. Humphrey, L. De- Luca (Business Manager), E. Its per¬ formances at many school functions add much to the enjoyment of these programs. Many students who play musical instruments are given a chance to gain much pleasure and experience by joining this group. Each year the members attend a Rotary Club luncheon at which they entertain the Rotarians by playing choice selections. Small imperfections can be changed with practice. 59 With this much hard work the results are bound to be good. The Glee Club, under the direc¬ tion of Mr. Edson Kimball, worked enthusiastically throughout the year. One of the outstanding features of the graduation each year is the per¬ formance by the Senior Girlsā Glee Club. Membership is open to senior girls who have been enrolled in the music classes throughout the entire three years. SENIOR GIRLSā GLEE CLUB First Row: P. Russo, C. Nett, A. Miggos, J. DeVito, C. It was a story of two men controlling a land company who swindled people and sold their property to the railroad at a profit.
