JUN 12 1951 N S3‘ foreword When a great philosopher, poet, or scientist makes a discovery that he wishes all mankind to know and remember, by word of mouth he can carry his message to a mere few. Through books he can relay his message to millions. Therefore, we wish to dedicate the theme of the INNITOU to Books so that we also may pre¬ serve our school day memories and in future years look back upon our many inspiring deeds.

J. FRANK HASSETT To the Members of the Class of 1951: Congratulations to each of you as you approach graduation. I am very pleased to be afforded this opportunity to insert this brief message in your graduation yearbook. Although the world as a whole appears to be in a turmoil and our own government is operating under a national emergency, we know for certain that we who advocate democ¬ racy and freedom will ultimately be victorious. In the meantime we must support our coun¬ try during this present struggle and at the same time never lose sight of our own individual ambitions and goal in life. The record of the first half of the twentieth century is one of amazing achievement. The record of the next fifty years can be even more amazing. Whether for good or evil remains to be seen. We do know that there is more than enough of everything for everyone. The material needs and wants of all people can be adequately satisfied. Peace of mind, security, physical well-being, happiness, opportunity etc. are possible for all citizens of the world. Perhaps the year two thousand will record that great progress had been made in the previous fifty years towards attaining these goals of human happi¬ ness. Those of you who find it possible to continue your education in a day college should do so, and those who find it necessary to seek immediate employment should continue to improve their mind by taking various vocational courses offered evenings and by reading a great deal. Our public library contains much valuable and interesting reading material. May I at thi s time also congratulate your proud parents. I know how happy and pleased they are on this special occasion. In conclusion I wish each of you success and happiness in any new undertaking which you decide to pursue in September. I. Frank Hassett Superintendent of Schools
