Fall (continued) Homecoming was the same as it always is. Sun poured down all over the campus, the Phi Psi's won the Homecoming display contest (KD's grabbed the sorority trophy, and Woodlawn-Myers captured the dorm pri e), and Wittenberg won the football game 37-0. Ann Larson, junior, was crowned Homecoming queen. New alumni returned, trying to look as collegiate or as successful as possible. They haunted all the old spots, had the mandatory coffee-buffet-rehash of old times, and silently wondered how so much could change. But most of this change was ultimately due to the change of generous alumni, new and old. The rest of the football season had its ups and downs. First the Tigers lost by one point to arch-rival Ohio Wesleyan to spoil their undefeated season and top ten ranking. But in the Dad's Day contest against Akron the Tigers got their revenge 14-0. On that soggy sweet day the Syncopates didn't melt, but they almost drowned. 29

Winter: Time Out for Study Winter term usually means two things for Wittenberg: Rush and study. For upperclass Greeks all the repetitious I.F.C. and Pan-Hel meetings cul- minate and the real nitty-gritty of evaluation and blackballing begin. Freshmen get their chance to respond to dirty rush, clean rush, or no rush. Then, after the redefinition of friendships, most Wittenberg students actually turn to study, since it's too cold or too wet to do much of anything else. It's easier to study, too. Since it's too dark to go to your 8:(X) you get plenty of rack-time for those all- nighters. To get away from it all, students either frayed in Alma Mater Hollow, slid down to Fog's to get warm, or went skiing at Mansfield. Most of the time Fog's won out because of the weather. The one person who wasn't stopped by the weather was Deputy Dog. As usual, he handed out tickets by day and frequented Mr. Donut by night. 30
