 Fall (continued) For the first time in years the University assigned roommates without first matching them by computer. The results, however, were pretty much the same: most got along but some found them- selves paired with either slobs or perfectionists. Another long-awaited treat was the annual introduction to Saga Food Service. As usual, the first few weeks lines were long and slow. But soon the lines dwindled and regular food inspection for metal strips and flavor began. The men from Myers Hall scoured the community for handouts, but cheerfully donated the loot to needy families. By midterms everyone had made the familiar trek to the friendly Springfield merchants and the even friendlier Springfield bars. They had also saved enough money to grab a Greyhound to Day- ton or Columbus for some real rest and relaxation.

I Fall (continued) Dorm life both attracts and repels. For girls there is a new freedom from paren- tal supervision yet archaic restrictions on hours and weekends. For men there are weekday maids and weekend messes. This year even men had to carry keys as apartment dwellers found dorm lounge furniture to their liking. But dorms do provide companion- ship, and many late-night card games and bull sessions contribute more to a student's all-around education than an eight o'clock class ever could - even if you had gone. 25
