(li iSCOnSin With fond remembrance, we, the class of 1976 dedicate this edition of the Sword and Shield to our former friend and classmate, Nancy Gabor, who tragically passed away on February 28, 1974. She will live in our hearts and minds as we remember the joys she once brought to us. 2 Our school has a very fortunate student body. We can work as we want and make many decisions on our own. Though we may have some seemingly unfair restrictions, our freedoms will always stand out. 3 Ah, life - what can one say, are there words to describe it? There are many decisions we must make, following the right path, or taking the wrong one. Our lives are special, as we are; just starting out, the many stud- ies we have, our likes, hobbies, and loves. Each event turning out the person each of us was meant to be. 4 One of the greatest privileges we have is our right to Liberty. Each and every one of us shares in this - the Liberty to say what we want, go where we want, eat what we want, dress as we want, read what we want. This can plainly be seen m iMu Pursuing the right to happiness may mean different things to different people whether it be surrounded by girls, speaking your own mind, or doing your own thing. With our diversified student body it certainly is possible to find happiness in your own form of self-expression. 6 Jahle ofj Gmtmts T udm of Q$pueH 8-13 7f udm of die (f as 14-17 44eedm of iout 18-33 Qovt nino fiodiei 34-34 'Jatufoy 412-48 cJndmdudiSrti 44-77 Oeathty and oUtOf-SyneUm 78-44 CooifxtitiM 100-1228 7 I swallowed my gum!! 8 The majority of our stu- dent body likes to talk and forensics gives us the opportunity to do just that. There are enough categor- ies that everyone should be able to find some topic to talk on. Hopefully, next year more students will take an interest in this extra-curricular activity. 'JoMies I just wasn't born a talker. Row 1: Mrs. Schranz, M. Buss. R. Jagler, H. Schmidt, K. Beiswanger, C. Brown, G. Rogalia, M. Cieslewicz, R. Strong, B. Emmel, R. Weber. Not only does it provide an escape from first hour, but also can contribute to one’s knowledge of foreign countries. Some activities include guest speak- ers, playing Spanish bingo, and planning parties, where Spanish food is sampled. OFFICERS: Front Row: L. Twaroski (President), P. Hanke (Secretary). Row 2: M. Whatever the occasion, we all enjoy the one extra hour off; making the week that much better. Va, va. va. voom Yoo Hoo! 1 ain't nothing but a hound dog. 13 Dead or Alive! Are there any more victims? 14 This year’s paper staff changed its format and produced a better quality paper. Through rain, sleet, snow and fear of critics they brought the news to the school. In future years we hope more interest is shown in our school newspaper. You called me a what??? Don't touch that radio, or I'll bust your head! George Washington really does have a dimple. Although they did not return to state competition this year, their fans are proud just the same. Tense Moments. We like it! We like it! Mr. Poock's pep-talk. Chorus girls??? Woncrful, Wonerful! After much dispute the tradition of having a Junior Prom was broken - mainly because a prom has become so unprofitable and because of lack of interest on the students' part. The Juniors did pull enough cooperation together to have a regular dance and decorate to the theme Til it’s time to say good-bye.” Music was provided by Beacon Drive. Who's contact lens . . . was that? Til it’s time to say good-bye . . . Ya wanna bump. Geno? Hard work, determination, and practice made our baseball team what it is today. The guys really made a great effort and came up with something to show for it. They tied for conference championship and made it to regionals. So now that we know what they can do, maybe we should show them the apprecia- tion and spirit they deserve. Row 1: B. Buss, G. Lex. S. Alwes. R. Thorson. P. Bauch. Row 2: Carlson. Row 3: C.
